🙌 Serving Jesus in Everyday Acts
đź’Ą Hook: It Feels Like You’re Not Doing Enough…
Have you ever wondered if your life is making a difference for Jesus? Maybe you look at others doing “big” things, preaching, leading, traveling, and you feel small. You ask, “Does what I do even matter to God?”
Let me assure you: it absolutely does. I’ve counseled many Christians over the years, and I’ve found a common thread: people underestimate the value of their everyday obedience. Yet Jesus doesn’t. In Matthew 25:40, He makes it clear: “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
So, let’s unpack this powerful truth together. We’ll see how small, unseen acts can carry eternal weight when done in love. And by the end, you’ll feel equipped and inspired to serve Jesus in your everyday life.
👣 Every Act of Kindness Counts
Jesus didn’t just preach to crowds. He touched lepers, comforted widows, and fed the hungry. He showed us that ministry isn’t about platforms. It’s about presence.
In Matthew 25, Jesus explains that when we feed the hungry, clothe the naked, visit the sick, or welcome the stranger, we’re not just doing charity. We’re serving Him directly.
Think about it. Offering a sandwich to a hungry neighbor? That’s serving Jesus. Sending a kind message to a grieving friend? That’s ministry. Smiling at the cashier, who looks exhausted? You’re showing the heart of God.
These are not small things. These are sacred moments.
🧩 The Problem: We Overlook the Simple Stuff
Here’s the real issue: many believers think only “spiritual” acts like leading worship or going on mission trips count as service. But that’s a lie.
We often miss the people right in front of us. A single mom needs a helping hand. An elderly neighbor craves conversation. A teenager feels invisible.
Meanwhile, we’re waiting for a “calling,” when Jesus is already calling us to love.
đź’ˇ The Solution: Serve With Intention
Now is the time to shift your mindset. Instead of waiting for a stage, look for someone to serve. Instead of aiming for visibility, aim for availability.
Jesus isn’t measuring your ministry by size, but by sincerity.
Let’s make this real. Here are a few ways to start:
-
Text someone who’s struggling.
-
Bring groceries to a family in need.
-
Babysit for a single parent.
-
Visit someone in a nursing home.
-
Be fully present in your conversations.
None of these require a church title. Just a willing heart.
đź“– Real-Life Story: Coffee, Kindness, and Christ
A friend of mine, Lisa, felt God nudging her to buy coffee for the man behind her in line. It felt random. But when she turned to him and said, “Jesus loves you,” he burst into tears. He had just prayed, asking God if He still cared.
That simple act became a turning point.
You never know how God will use your kindness. But He will. Always.
🪞 Reflect: Who Is God Putting on Your Heart?
Jesus sees every act of love. He receives every gift of service. But the question is who can you serve today?
Look around. Is there someone you’ve overlooked?
You don’t need to fix their life. Just show up. Just care.

✨ Final Thought: Serve Jesus with What You Have
To sum it up, you don’t need to be extraordinary to serve Jesus. You just need to be available.
When you show love to the “least of these,” Jesus says you are loving Him.
So today, let God use your hands, your heart, and your ordinary moments to bring His presence into someone else’s life.
Because in the Kingdom of God, there’s no such thing as small love.
