A Sacrifice of Praise: How to Live a Life That Pleases God
Are You Pleasing God, or Just Getting By?
Have you ever stopped and wondered if your life truly brings pleasure to God?
Many believers love God deeply.
Yet they still ask a quiet question: Am I really living in a way that honors Him?
I’ve studied Scripture for years. I’ve walked with believers in every season of faith. And one truth keeps rising to the surface. God clearly shows us how to please Him.
Today, we will uncover what a sacrifice of praise really means, why worship is more than music, and how loving others completes our devotion to God.
The Problem: Confusing Faith with Routine
Many Christians attend church.
They sing songs.
They read Scripture.
Yet something still feels missing.
That is because faith can quietly turn into routine.
And when that happens, worship becomes limited.
Love becomes selective.
And purpose becomes unclear.
However, Scripture gives us a better way.
Created for God’s Pleasure
From the beginning, God created us for His pleasure.
This truth runs through the entire Bible.
Since we have received new life in Christ, we should desire to please God.
Because He gave us grace, we respond with gratitude.
And because He gave us everything, we give Him ourselves.
Therefore, pleasing God is not pressure.
It is response.
The First Sacrifice: Praise That Comes from the Heart
Hebrews 13:15 gives us our first clear instruction.
“Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess His name.”
This verse teaches us something important.
Praise is not automatic.
Praise is a sacrifice.
We praise God when life is good.
But we also praise Him when life is hard.
That is why praise pleases Him.
Worship Is More Than a Song
Worship includes singing.
However, worship goes deeper.
Worship is the orientation of your entire life toward God.
It is how you speak.
It is how you act.
It is how you respond under pressure.
When you live in awe of who God is and what He has done, you worship Him daily.
The Second Sacrifice: Loving Others Well
Hebrews 13:16 gives us the second way to please God.
“And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”
This verse shifts worship outward.
It moves faith into action.
When we love others, we reflect God’s love.
When we do good, we mirror His grace.
And when we share, we reveal His generosity.
Why How You Treat People Matters
God’s love reached us first.
Therefore, love should flow through us next.
Our actions tell a story.
They reveal what we believe about God.
They show whether grace truly changed us.
Because of this, loving others is not optional.
It is worship in motion.
Jesus Said It Best
Jesus summed it all up in Matthew 22:36–40.
Love God with everything you have.
Love your neighbor as yourself.
When you worship God, you fulfill the first command.
When you love others, you fulfill the second.
Together, they form a life that pleases God.
Story Example: When Praise and Love Meet
I once met a believer facing deep loss.
Still, they chose to praise God daily.
At the same time, they served others faithfully.
Their life preached louder than any sermon.
People noticed.
God was glorified.
That is the power of a sacrifice of praise paired with love.

The Solution: Love God First
If we don’t love God first, we cannot love others well.
Time in Scripture matters.
Prayer matters.
Praise matters.
When love for God grows, love for people follows naturally.
Final Encouragement: Offer Your Life
God does not ask for perfection.
He asks for devotion.
Offer Him praise with your lips.
Offer Him worship with your life.
Offer Him love through your actions.
That is a sacrifice God delights in.
