God Revealed in Flesh: One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism

God Is Spirit and Yet Revealed in the Flesh

God is a Spirit. He is invisible, eternal, and beyond human sight. Yet, because of His great love and mercy, God chose to reveal Himself in a way humanity could understand. Therefore, He clothed Himself in flesh and entered the world in a visible form. This revelation allowed people not only to see God but also to know Him personally.

From the beginning, God formed man from the dust of the earth and called him Adam. Adam was made in God’s image, yet he was earthly. Later, God revealed Himself again, not as a created man, but as the Lord from heaven. This second Adam was Jesus Christ. Through Him, God expressed Himself fully in human form.

The First Adam and the Second Adam

Scripture teaches that the first man, Adam, was of the earth. He represented humanity in its fallen state. However, the second man, Jesus Christ, was the Lord from heaven. He represented God stepping into time to redeem mankind. In Jesus, God did not create another person; instead, He manifested Himself in flesh.

As a result, Jesus Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He was not a separate deity but God revealed as a Son. Therefore, when we speak of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, we are not speaking of three gods, but of one God revealed in different ways. This is why the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost is the Lord Jesus Christ.

Obedience, Humility, and the New Birth

Those who are obedient and humble in heart receive the Word of God with honesty and purity. Because of this posture, they can accept the teaching of the apostles without confusion or resistance. In Acts chapter 2, the Apostle Peter gave a clear answer to those who asked, “What shall we do?”

Peter’s response in Acts 2:38 was not a new doctrine. Instead, it was the fulfillment of Jesus’ command in Matthew 28:19–20. Peter preached repentance, baptism in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and the receiving of the Holy Ghost. This message remains the foundation of the gospel today.

The Gospel Begins at Jerusalem

Jesus commanded that repentance and remission of sins be preached in His name, beginning at Jerusalem. This command is recorded in Luke 24:45–49. Obediently, the apostles began preaching the gospel exactly as instructed. Acts chapter 2 marks the official beginning of the gospel message to the world.

Furthermore, Mark 16:16 declares that those who believe the gospel and are baptized shall be saved. Salvation, therefore, is not based on belief alone, but on obedient faith expressed through baptism and the infilling of the Holy Spirit. Those who follow this apostolic teaching are saved from the second death, which is the lake of fire.

Confirmation Throughout the Book of Acts

The message preached in Acts chapter 2 was consistently confirmed throughout the book of Acts. In Acts chapter 8, Philip the evangelist preached the kingdom of God in Samaria. Those who believed were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, confirming the same doctrine taught at Jerusalem.

Later, in Acts chapter 10, the Apostle Peter preached to the Gentiles. While Peter was still speaking, they received the Holy Ghost. Following this, Peter commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. This shows that the same gospel applies to both Jews and Gentiles.

Paul Confirms the Same Doctrine

In Acts chapter 19, the Apostle Paul encountered disciples who had only received John’s baptism. Recognizing that they had not yet experienced the full gospel, Paul rebaptized them in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Afterward, they received the Holy Ghost and spoke in other tongues as the Spirit gave utterance.

This final confirmation shows unity among the apostles. There was no division in doctrine, no competing message, and no alternative method of salvation. Every apostle preached the same gospel and upheld the same truth.

One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism

The consistent message throughout Scripture is clear. There is one Lord, one doctrine, one baptism, one Spirit, and one hope. That hope is eternal life, promised by God Himself. This gospel began at Jerusalem and spread to Judea, Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth.

Today, that same message must still be preached to all nations. The gospel has not changed, and God has not changed. Salvation remains found in obedience to the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
