Desperate for Him: Why We Can’t Live Without the Lord Jesus Christ

When Strength Runs Out

Right now, many people are exhausted.
Yet many still say, “I’ve got this.”
However, that confidence often fades in the quiet moments.
Because sooner or later, strength runs out.

As a believer who has walked through weakness, loss, and unanswered questions, I have learned something simple and life-changing.
We are not strong on our own.
Instead, we are desperate for the Lord Jesus Christ, every hour, every breath, every step.

In this article, you will discover why self-sufficiency fails, why dependence brings peace, and how to seek the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ daily.
Most importantly, you will learn how desperation can become your greatest spiritual strength.

The Problem: The Illusion of Self-Sufficiency

Our culture celebrates independence.
As a result, we are taught to rely on ourselves.
We chase success, control, and comfort.
Yet, this mindset slowly pulls us away from the Lord Jesus Christ.

Even believers fall into this trap.
We pray less when life feels stable.
We seek help last instead of first.
Over time, we begin to live as if we are in control.

But the truth remains simple.
We would not exist without the Lord Jesus Christ.
We would not breathe without His sustaining power.
And we would not flourish without His guidance and strength.

A Biblical Call to Dependence

The writer of 1 Chronicles understood this truth deeply.
Therefore, he gave us a clear command:

“Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His presence continually!”
— 1 Chronicles 16:11 (ESV)

This verse does not suggest occasional dependence.
Instead, it calls for continual dependence.
Just as our lungs need air, our souls need the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ.

A Story We All Recognize

I remember a season when everything looked fine on the outside.
My schedule was full.
My plans were clear.
My confidence was high.

Yet inside, anxiety quietly grew.
Peace slowly disappeared.
Joy felt distant.

Only when I stopped striving did clarity come.
Only when I admitted weakness did strength return.
And only when I became desperate for the Lord Jesus Christ did my soul find rest.

This is not weakness.
This is wisdom.

Why We Are Desperate for the Lord Jesus Christ

The Lord Jesus Christ created us.
Therefore, He understands us completely.
He formed our bodies, minds, and souls.
He knows every fear, every thought, and every hidden wound.

More importantly, He holds the keys to life.
He has the power to save.
He has the authority to restore.
And He alone sustains every breath we take.

When we forget this, life feels heavy.
When we remember this, burdens become lighter.

How to Seek His Presence Continually

Seeking the Lord Jesus Christ does not require perfection.
Instead, it requires humility.

Start with simple steps:

  • Talk to Him throughout the day

  • Invite Him into your decisions

  • Ask for His strength when you feel weak

  • Prioritize time with Him, even when life is busy

Most importantly, come honestly.
The Lord Jesus Christ never rejects a heart that truly seeks Him.

The Solution: Desperation That Leads to Strength

Desperation changes everything.
It removes pride.
It deepens faith.
It invites grace.

When you bring weakness, He gives strength.
When you bring questions, He gives peace.
When you bring nothing, He gives Himself.

And that is more than enough.
