Let Goodness Prevail: How to Overcome Evil With Good Through the Lord Jesus Christ
When Evil Feels Louder Than Good
Right now, you may feel overwhelmed by the darkness in the world.
Every headline screams conflict, division, and fear.
Meanwhile, betrayal, offense, and disappointment may feel personal.
As a Bible teacher and Christian content creator in the Christian inspiration space, I have spent years studying spiritual warfare and the Kingdom of Light. Therefore, I understand this struggle deeply. Moreover, I have walked through seasons where evil felt louder than hope.
So today, we will confront a serious question: How do we let goodness prevail in a fallen world?
Specifically, we will explore the biblical battle between good and evil, examine Romans 12:21, and discover practical ways to overcome evil with good through the Lord Jesus Christ.

In the Beginning: Created for Goodness
In the beginning, life was good.
Indeed, the Lord Jesus Christ created everything and called it very good.
However, that goodness was fractured.
An enemy enticed Adam and Eve to question His goodness and doubt His Word.
Consequently, when they ate from the forbidden tree, sin entered the world.
As a result, humanity became aware of two opposing forces: good and evil.
From that moment forward, the battle between good and evil shaped history.
Therefore, the spiritual battle between the Kingdom of Light and the kingdom of darkness is not fiction. It is real. It affects every continent, culture, and nation.
The Ongoing Battle Between Good and Evil
Even today, we share a good-yet-fallen world.
Yet make no mistake—the kingdom of darkness is still warring against the Kingdom of Light.
The enemy’s mission is clear:
-
To steal
-
To kill
-
To destroy
-
To deceive
-
To divide
Nevertheless, the Lord Jesus Christ has a greater mission.
He redeems.
He restores.
He revives.
He makes all things new.
Therefore, Christian spiritual warfare is not about fear. Instead, it is about standing firm in victory.
What Does the Bible Say? Romans 12:21 Explained
The apostle Paul wrote to believers in Rome:
“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” (Romans 12:21 NIV)
First, Paul gives a warning. Do not be overcome by evil.
Second, he gives a strategy. Overcome evil with good.
In the same chapter, Paul explains how:
-
Reject evil
-
Cling to what is good
-
Love sincerely
-
Bless those who persecute you
-
Refuse revenge
At first, this sounds impossible.
However, through the Lord Jesus Christ, it becomes powerful.
A Real-Life Example: Choosing Good Over Revenge
Several years ago, someone close to me spread false information about my ministry.
Naturally, I felt anger. I wanted justice. I wanted vindication.
Yet instead of retaliating, I chose prayer.
Instead of gossiping, I chose silence.
Instead of revenge, I chose forgiveness.
Over time, the situation healed.
More importantly, my heart healed.
Therefore, overcoming evil with good does not make you weak. It makes you spiritually strong.
Practical Ways to Let Goodness Prevail
So how can you overcome evil with good today?
1. Forgive Quickly
Although forgiveness feels costly, it frees your heart.
2. Serve Humbly
Just as the Lord Jesus Christ served sacrificially, we must serve others.
3. Speak Life
Instead of fueling division, speak encouragement and truth.
4. Defend the Weak
Stand up for the poor, marginalized, and overlooked.
5. Pray for Your Enemies
This may be the hardest command. Yet it breaks bitterness at the root.
Consequently, goodness begins to grow where darkness once ruled.
Why Goodness Wins in the End
Sometimes evil seems louder.
However, darkness cannot exist where light shines.
Likewise, evil cannot prevail when goodness floods the atmosphere.
Most importantly, we already know the end of the story.
The Lord Jesus Christ reigns victorious.
Therefore, we fight from victory, not for victory.
