Knowing the Lord Jesus: Worship in Spirit and Truth

True worship begins with true understanding. If a person does not know who the Lord Jesus is, that person cannot fully worship Him in spirit and in truth. The message of salvation is rooted in knowing the identity of the Lord Jesus Christ and believing in Him as the manifestation of the Father.

When the Lord Jesus walked on the earth as a man, He made powerful statements about His identity. He said, “He who has seen Me has seen the Father.” In other words, to know the Lord Jesus is to know the Father. From that moment forward, He revealed the fullness of who He truly is.

He also declared a solemn warning: unless a person believes that He is who He says He is, that person will die in his sins. These words emphasize how important it is to understand the truth about the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Lord Jesus Christ: The Fullness of the Father

Scripture teaches that no one can come to the Father except through the Lord Jesus Christ. The reason is simple but profound. All the fullness of the Father, the entire Godhead, dwells bodily in the Lord Jesus Christ. Because of this, we are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.

Therefore, when we say there is only one way to be saved, we are declaring that salvation is found in the Lord Jesus Christ alone. Everyone who seeks salvation must recognize that the Lord Jesus Christ is the Father revealed in human form.

The Father is Spirit and not a man. The Lord Jesus Himself said that a spirit does not have flesh and bones. The body that He presented to the world was the visible manifestation of the invisible Spirit. Through this body, the invisible Father made Himself known to humanity.

The Purpose of the Manifestation

The Lord Jesus took upon Himself the form of a servant and came into the world in the likeness of humanity. In that humble form, He accomplished the greatest act of love ever shown to mankind.

Through the shedding of His blood and His resurrection from the dead, redemption and salvation became possible. His sacrifice opened the door for sinners to be forgiven and restored.

This truth must be applied personally. Each person must believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is the Father who took on a body of no reputation for the purpose of saving souls.

Responding to the Message of Salvation

First, we must acknowledge that we are sinners who need mercy. No human effort or good works can purchase salvation. Instead, salvation comes through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Next, we must turn away from our old life. In baptism in water, the old sinful nature is symbolically buried. Then, as we rise from the water, we begin to walk in newness of life through the power of the Lord Jesus.

Because He died for us, we choose to die to sin. We seek to live by the quickening power of His Spirit. The Lord Jesus promised to give His Spirit to those who believe and are baptized in His name.

This promise brings transformation. The believer becomes a new creature, born of the Spirit and filled with the Holy Ghost.

The Faith Delivered to the Apostles

This message is not a new teaching. It is the same faith that was delivered to the apostles and proclaimed on the Day of Pentecost.

In the book of Acts, we see the same pattern repeated. In Acts chapter 2, Acts chapter 8, Acts chapter 10, and Acts chapter 19, believers were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and received the Holy Spirit.

These passages reveal one consistent message:

  • One Lord — the Lord Jesus Christ

  • One faith — the gospel preached by the apostles

  • One baptism — in the name of the Lord Jesus

This message began in Jerusalem and spread throughout the world.

Standing Firm in the One Gospel

Today, many interpretations and teachings attempt to change or alter this original message. However, believers are called to stand firmly for the truth that was once delivered to the saints.

We do not apologize for proclaiming the Oneness of the Lord Jesus Christ. The scriptures declare:

  • One Lord

  • One Faith

  • One Baptism

  • One Spirit

  • One Hope of our calling

The apostles laid the foundation of the church, and that foundation cannot be changed. The gospel they preached remains the standard for all believers today.

Guarding the Original Message

The apostles warned that no one has authority to change the gospel message. In fact, scripture pronounces a curse upon anyone who attempts to alter it.

Because of this, believers must carefully guard the truth. If someone brings another teaching that contradicts the apostolic message, the instruction is clear: reject it without hesitation.

The gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ is complete, powerful, and unchanging. It continues to bring salvation to every person who believes.

Conclusion

The heart of the gospel is simple yet powerful. The Lord Jesus Christ revealed the Father, died for our sins, rose again, and pours out His Spirit on those who believe.

Through repentance, baptism in His name, and the receiving of the Holy Spirit, sinners are transformed into new creations.

This is the faith that brings life, hope, and redemption to the world. And it remains the same gospel preached by the apostles from the very beginning.
