By the end of this article, I hope you will no longer see yourself as ordinary. Instead, you will see yourself as someone intentionally designed by the Lord Jesus Christ for extraordinary purposes.
Before Time Began, the Lord Jesus Christ Already Knew You
Everything around us points to an intelligent Creator.
The galaxies display breathtaking beauty. Mountains stand as silent witnesses to His power. Oceans roar with majesty. Tiny hummingbirds fly with incredible precision. Every flower blooms according to its design.
Then came humanity.
The Lord Jesus Christ created men and women in His own image. He gave us the ability to think, love, create, serve, and worship Him.
Yet His plan did not begin in the Garden of Eden.
Instead, before time itself existed, the Lord Jesus Christ already knew every detail about your life.
He knew your victories.
He knew your failures.
He knew your questions.
He knew your struggles.
Even more amazing, He chose to create you anyway because He loves you.
That truth alone changes everything.
You Are the Lord Jesus Christ’s Masterpiece
Ephesians 2:10 reminds us:
“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which the Lord Jesus Christ prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”
The word workmanship also means masterpiece.
Think about an artist.
A master artist does not randomly throw paint onto a canvas. Instead, every brushstroke has meaning.
Likewise, the Lord Jesus Christ intentionally designed every part of you.
Your personality.
Your gifts.
Your experiences.
Even your painful seasons.
Although you may not understand every chapter of your story, the Master Artist never wastes a single stroke.
Your Past Does Not Cancel Your Purpose
Many people believe their mistakes have ruined their future.
Perhaps you have thought:
- “I’ve failed too many times.”
- “I’ve made poor decisions.”
- “I don’t have enough talent.”
- “Someone else could do this better.”
However, Scripture tells a different story.
Throughout the Bible, the Lord Jesus Christ called ordinary people with imperfect lives.
Moses doubted himself.
David failed morally.
Peter denied the Lord.
Paul once persecuted believers.
Yet the Lord Jesus Christ transformed each life into a powerful testimony.
Likewise, He can do the same for you.
Your past explains your testimony.
It does not determine your destiny.
Every Season Has a Purpose
Sometimes we only notice the difficult chapters.
You may be experiencing financial struggles.
Perhaps your health has declined.
Maybe relationships have become painful.
Nevertheless, the Lord Jesus Christ continues working behind the scenes.
Consider Joseph.
He experienced betrayal, slavery, false accusations, and imprisonment.
None of those events looked like part of a great plan.
However, each step prepared him to save countless lives during a famine.
Likewise, the difficult season you face today may be preparing you for opportunities you cannot yet see.
Trust the process.
Trust the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Lord Jesus Christ Has Prepared Good Works for You
Many people spend years asking one question:
“What is my purpose?”
Thankfully, Scripture gives a clear answer.
The Lord Jesus Christ has already prepared good works for you.
That purpose may involve:
- Raising a family that honors Him.
- Encouraging discouraged people.
- Teaching His Word.
- Serving your community.
- Starting a ministry.
- Writing books that inspire others.
- Simply showing kindness every day.
Not every calling receives public attention.
However, every act of obedience matters in the Kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ.
How to Discover Your Calling
Finding your purpose does not happen overnight.
Instead, begin taking faithful steps.
1. Pray Daily
First, ask the Lord Jesus Christ to reveal His direction.
2. Study Scripture
Next, allow His Word to shape your decisions instead of your emotions.
3. Use Your Gifts
Then, begin serving where opportunities already exist.
4. Listen Carefully
Often, the Lord Jesus Christ opens one small door before revealing the next.
5. Keep Moving Forward
Finally, remember that faithful obedience is better than waiting for perfect clarity.
A Story of Purpose
Imagine a young man who constantly compared himself with successful people.
He believed he had nothing valuable to offer.
One day, he volunteered to help elderly neighbors with small home repairs.
Soon, people noticed his kindness.
Before long, families began asking him to mentor young men.
Eventually, he realized his purpose was not becoming famous.
His calling was changing lives one relationship at a time.
Likewise, your purpose may begin with one simple act of obedience today.
You Were Born for This Moment
The Lord Jesus Christ placed you in this generation for a reason.
You are not an accident.
You are not forgotten.
You are not overlooked.
Instead, you are part of His eternal plan.
Philippians 2:13 reminds us that the Lord Jesus Christ works within us, giving us both the desire and the power to accomplish His will.
Therefore, stop measuring yourself against others.
Instead, begin walking confidently in the path He has prepared for you.
The greatest story on earth is still unfolding.
