Who Do You Trust? Finding Peace While Waiting on the Lord Jesus Christ

What Is Keeping You Waiting?

Have you ever wondered why your prayers seem to take so long to be answered? Have you ever asked yourself why the breakthrough you expected has not arrived? If so, you are not alone. Many believers struggle with waiting. They pray faithfully, yet the answer seems delayed. They trust, yet their circumstances appear unchanged.

Today, we will discover why waiting is not wasted. More importantly, we will learn why trusting the Lord Jesus Christ is always the safest place to stand. By the end of this article, you will understand how biblical trust gives peace even when life feels uncertain.

Waiting Is One of Life’s Greatest Challenges

Sooner or later, everyone enters a season of waiting.

Perhaps you are waiting for healing.

Perhaps you are waiting for a better job.

Perhaps you are waiting for your family to be restored.

Maybe you are waiting for financial freedom.

Or perhaps you simply want the peace that has been missing for months.

Waiting can feel lonely.

Even worse, the silence can make us question everything we believed.

However, the real question is not, “How long will I wait?”

Instead, the real question is:

“Who will I trust while I wait?”

That single decision changes everything.

Isaiah Knew What It Meant to Wait

The prophet Isaiah ministered during one of Judah’s darkest periods.

The nation had become spiritually bankrupt. Many people trusted idols instead of the Lord Jesus Christ. Others believed political leaders would rescue them. Some placed their confidence in wealth, military strength, or foreign nations.

Yet none of those things could save them.

Isaiah faithfully warned the people that judgment was coming. Eventually, many would be taken into exile because they refused to trust the Lord Jesus Christ.

Still, Isaiah did not stop there.

He also delivered hope.

He promised restoration.

He spoke of a coming Savior.

He declared that the Lord Jesus Christ would one day rescue His people forever.

Interestingly, Isaiah never lived to see every prophecy fulfilled.

Nevertheless, he believed every promise.

That is genuine faith.

Trust Does Not Depend on What You See

Many people think trust begins after they see results.

The Bible teaches the opposite.

Trust begins before the miracle arrives.

Imagine a farmer.

He plants seeds.

Then he waters the ground.

Afterward, he waits.

He cannot see what is happening beneath the soil.

Yet every day, life is growing underground.

Likewise, the Lord Jesus Christ often works behind the scenes.

Although we cannot always see His hand, we can always trust His heart.

Why We Struggle to Trust

Waiting exposes what we truly depend on.

Sometimes we trust our own plans.

Other times we trust our savings.

Sometimes we trust our education.

Occasionally we trust people.

Sadly, people disappoint us.

Money disappears.

Health changes.

Careers end.

Governments rise and fall.

Friends may leave.

Family members may disappoint us.

However, the Lord Jesus Christ never changes.

His character remains the same yesterday, today, and forever.

Therefore, our confidence should rest in Him alone.

The Lord Jesus Christ Understands Your Pain

One reason we can trust the Lord Jesus Christ is because He understands suffering personally.

He experienced rejection.

He knew betrayal.

He felt sorrow.

He endured pain.

He carried the weight of humanity’s sin to the cross.

Therefore, He understands your tears better than anyone else.

When your heart breaks, He knows.

When you feel forgotten, He sees.

When your strength is gone, His strength remains.

That truth brings lasting hope.

His Promises Never Fail

People often break promises.

The Lord Jesus Christ never does.

Throughout Scripture, He repeatedly assures His people.

He promises to:

  • Never leave you.
  • Fight your battles.
  • Make a way where there seems to be no way.
  • Give peace during storms.
  • Provide strength when you are weak.
  • Comfort those who mourn.
  • Remain faithful forever.

His promises are not based on changing circumstances.

Instead, they are based on His unchanging nature.

That makes all the difference.

A Story About Trust

Imagine a little girl crossing a busy street with her father.

She hears loud traffic.

She sees speeding cars.

She becomes frightened.

Then her father reaches for her hand.

Immediately, her fear begins to disappear.

Did the traffic stop?

No.

Did the danger disappear?

No.

What changed?

She trusted the one holding her hand.

Likewise, your problems may still exist today.

However, when the Lord Jesus Christ holds your hand, your confidence becomes stronger than your fear.

Trust Grows Through Waiting

Although nobody enjoys waiting, waiting develops spiritual maturity.

Waiting teaches patience.

Waiting strengthens faith.

Waiting removes pride.

Waiting deepens prayer.

Waiting draws us closer to the Lord Jesus Christ.

Eventually, we realize that the greatest blessing is not simply receiving the answer.

The greatest blessing is knowing the One who gives the answer.

Practical Ways to Trust the Lord Jesus Christ Every Day

1. Pray Before You Panic

Whenever anxiety appears, bring every concern to the Lord Jesus Christ.

Prayer replaces fear with peace.

2. Read His Word Daily

The Bible reminds us of His promises.

His truth is stronger than our emotions.

3. Remember His Past Faithfulness

Think about previous victories.

If He carried you before, He will carry you again.

4. Stop Comparing Your Journey

Every believer has a different timeline.

The Lord Jesus Christ is writing your story, not someone else’s.

5. Praise While You Wait

Praise shifts your attention away from your problems and back to the Lord Jesus Christ.

Worship strengthens trust.

Isaiah’s Message Still Speaks Today

Isaiah lived hundreds of years before many of his prophecies came true.

Yet every fulfilled prophecy reminds us of one powerful truth.

The Lord Jesus Christ always keeps His word.

If He fulfilled His promises then, He will fulfill His promises now.

Therefore, even when circumstances make no sense, trust Him.

Even when your heart is broken, trust Him.

Even when people disappoint you, trust Him.

Even when life feels uncertain, trust Him.

Because He is our salvation, we can trust Him and not be afraid.

Your Waiting Has Purpose

Perhaps today you are standing between a promise and its fulfillment.

That place can feel uncomfortable.

Nevertheless, it is often where the Lord Jesus Christ does His greatest work.

He is shaping your character.

He is strengthening your faith.

He is preparing you for what lies ahead.

Do not give up.

Do not stop praying.

Do not stop believing.

The One who began a good work in you will finish it.

Come what may, choose today to trust the Lord Jesus Christ.

He has never failed.

He never will.
