I Will Not Let My Salvation Slip Away

Life moves fast. Every day brings new distractions, new responsibilities, and new temptations. As a result, it becomes easy to neglect what matters most. We rarely wake up intending to drift away from the Lord Jesus Christ. Instead, we slowly become distracted until prayer becomes occasional, Bible reading becomes optional, and church becomes convenient rather than essential.

Hebrews 2 gives us a powerful warning. It reminds us that drifting away from the truth is dangerous because the Lord Jesus Christ paid the highest price to save us. Therefore, I choose to make this chapter personal. I will not merely read these verses. Instead, I will commit myself to living them every day.

I Will Pay Careful Attention to the Truth

The chapter begins with a serious warning:

“Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.”

This verse speaks directly to me.

I will pay careful attention to what I have learned from the Word of the Lord Jesus Christ. I know that spiritual drifting rarely happens all at once. Instead, it happens one neglected prayer, one missed opportunity to obey, and one compromise at a time.

Just as a boat slowly drifts from the dock without an anchor, I can drift away if I stop focusing on the Lord Jesus.

Therefore, I choose to remain anchored in His Word.

I Will Never Neglect So Great Salvation

Hebrews asks an important question:

“How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation…”

That question deserves an honest answer.

I cannot afford to treat salvation casually.

The Lord Jesus left Heaven, took on flesh, suffered rejection, endured the Cross, and conquered death so that I could receive eternal life. His sacrifice deserves my complete devotion.

Therefore, I will not neglect my relationship with Him.

Instead, I will pray faithfully.

I will study His Word daily.

I will obey His commands without delay.

I will treasure the salvation He purchased for me.

I Will Keep My Eyes on Jesus

Although the world often appears out of control, Hebrews reminds us of one comforting truth:

“But we see Jesus…”

That simple statement changes everything.

When life becomes confusing, I will look to Jesus instead of my circumstances.

When fear surrounds me, I will remember that He wears the crown of glory and honor.

When discouragement comes, I will remember that He already won the victory through His death and resurrection.

My confidence does not rest in politics, wealth, or human strength.

My hope rests completely in the Lord Jesus Christ.

I Will Remember That Jesus Understands Me

One of the greatest comforts in Hebrews 2 is knowing that the Lord Jesus became fully human.

He experienced suffering.

He faced temptation.

He endured rejection.

He knew pain.

Because He experienced these things, He understands every struggle I face.

That means I never have to suffer alone.

Whenever temptation comes, I will run toward Him instead of away from Him.

Whenever I fail, I will seek His mercy instead of hiding in shame.

He knows exactly how to help me because He has already walked the path before me.

I Will Live Without the Fear of Death

Many people spend their entire lives fearing death.

That fear influences their decisions, relationships, and priorities.

Yet Hebrews declares that through His death, the Lord Jesus destroyed the one who held the power of death.

Because He rose again, I no longer have to live in fear.

Instead, I will live with hope.

I know that my future is secure in Christ.

That confidence gives me courage to serve Him boldly today

I Will Trust My Faithful High Priest

The Lord Jesus became my merciful and faithful High Priest.

He does not merely understand my weaknesses.

He intercedes for me.

He strengthens me.

He forgives me.

He restores me.

Whenever I stumble, I will not quit.

Instead, I will return to Him with humility, repentance, and faith.

He is always ready to help those who call upon Him.

My Personal Commitment

Today I choose to make Hebrews 2 my daily commitment.

• I will give earnest attention to the Word of the Lord Jesus Christ.
• I will not neglect so great salvation.
• I will keep my eyes on Jesus.
• I will trust Him during suffering.
• I will reject fear because Jesus conquered death.
• I will run to Him whenever I face temptation.
• I will faithfully serve Him until He returns.

The Lord Jesus gave everything for me.

Therefore, I gladly give my life to Him.

Conclusion

Every day I make choices that move me either closer to or farther from the Lord Jesus Christ. Hebrews 2 reminds me that drifting is dangerous, but staying close to Jesus brings peace, strength, and eternal hope.

Today I renew my commitment.

I will not drift.

I will not neglect His salvation.

I will not allow distractions to steal my faith.

Instead, I will fix my eyes on the Lord Jesus Christ, trust Him in every trial, and remain faithful until the day I see Him face to face.

The greatest decision I can make today is to hold tightly to the One who has always held tightly to me.
