Looking for the Blessed Hope: Are You Ready for the Glorious Appearing of the Lord Jesus Christ?

Today’s message is based on Titus 2:13 (KJV):
“Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;”
In a world filled with uncertainty, fear, and constant change, the Bible directs our eyes toward a hope that will never disappoint. The blessed hope is not a dream, a wish, or a philosophy—it is the certain promise that the Lord Jesus Christ, our great God and Saviour, is coming again.

Our key verse is Titus 2:13 (KJV):
“Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;”
That single verse is filled with hope, comfort, and a challenge. It reminds us that our future is not uncertain. Instead, it is anchored in the promise that the Lord Jesus Christ will return.
What Is the Blessed Hope?
The Apostle Paul calls the return of Jesus Christ our “blessed hope.”
Hope in the Bible is not wishful thinking. It is confident expectation. It is complete confidence that what the Lord Jesus Christ has promised, He will fulfill.
Today, many people place their hope in governments, careers, investments, technology, or even their own abilities. Yet every one of those things can fail.
However, the Lord Jesus Christ never fails.
He fulfilled every prophecy concerning His first coming. He was born exactly as the prophets foretold. He lived a sinless life, died for our sins, rose from the dead, and ascended into heaven.
Therefore, we can trust Him to fulfill His promise to come again.
Why Does His Return Matter?
Some people ask, “Why should I think about the return of Jesus?”
The answer is simple.
Because His return changes how we live today.
If we truly believe the Lord Jesus Christ could appear at any moment, we will live differently.
We will forgive more quickly.
We will love more deeply.
We will pray more faithfully.
We will share the gospel more boldly.
We will stop putting off obedience until tomorrow.
Every day becomes an opportunity to honor the One we are waiting to see.
Looking Means Living
Notice the first word in Titus 2:13.
“Looking.”
Looking is an active word.
It means watching.
It means expecting.
It means preparing.
Imagine inviting a special guest into your home. You would clean the house. You would prepare the meal. You would make sure everything was ready before they arrived.
The Lord Jesus Christ calls us to prepare our hearts in the same way.
He wants His people to live holy lives.
He wants us to remain faithful.
He wants us to be busy serving His kingdom until He comes.
Our Great God and Saviour Jesus Christ
Titus 2:13 also declares a powerful truth:
“…the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.”
This verse leaves no doubt about who Jesus is.
He is not merely a prophet.
He is not simply a good teacher.
He is not one among many ways to heaven.
He is our great God and our Saviour.
The One who created the universe is the very One who became flesh, died for our sins, and will return in glory.
That is why every believer can confidently place their future in His hands.
Are You Ready?
The most important question is not whether Jesus is coming.
The Bible has already answered that.
The real question is:
Are you ready?
Have you surrendered your life to the Lord Jesus Christ?
Have you obeyed His Word?
Are you walking with Him each day?
No one knows the exact day or hour of His appearing.
That is why today is the day to prepare.
Do not wait until tomorrow.
Choose to follow Him today.
Living with Expectation
When we live with the blessed hope, fear loses its grip.
The troubles of this world no longer control us.
Trials become temporary.
Pain becomes bearable.
Loss becomes easier to endure.
Why?
Because we know this world is not our final home.
A glorious day is coming when we will see the Lord Jesus Christ face to face.
What an incredible hope!
Challenge for Today
Today, I want to challenge you.
Ask yourself these three questions:
- Am I living each day as though the Lord Jesus Christ could return today?
- Is there anything in my life I need to surrender to Him?
- Who needs to hear about this blessed hope before He comes?
Don’t keep this hope to yourself.
Share it with your family.
Share it with your friends.
Share it with your neighbors.
Someone you know needs to hear that hope is found only in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the promise of the glorious appearing of the Lord Jesus Christ. Help us to remain faithful, watchful, and ready every day. Give us boldness to share Your truth with a world that desperately needs hope. Let our lives reflect Your holiness as we eagerly wait for Your return. We ask these things in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
