What Psalm 68 Teaches Us About the Lord Jesus the King of Kings

The Lord Jesus Is Our Defender

What a powerful picture!

Smoke cannot remain when the wind drives it away. Likewise, wax cannot withstand intense heat. In the same way, opposition cannot ultimately overcome the authority of the Lord Jesus.

Still, the Lord went before them.

Perhaps you are walking through your own wilderness. You may not know what tomorrow will bring. You may be waiting for an answer to prayer. You may feel exhausted from carrying responsibilities for your family.

Nevertheless, the Lord Jesus can strengthen you.

You do not have to understand every step before taking the next one. Sometimes faith simply means trusting the Lord Jesus enough to keep moving.

Daily Benefits Come From the Lord

One of the most encouraging statements in Psalm 68 declares that the Lord “daily loadeth us with benefits.”

Notice the word daily.

The Lord does not merely help us once in our lifetime. He provides grace for each day.

Yesterday’s strength cannot always carry today’s burden. Therefore, we need fresh faith, fresh courage, and fresh dependence upon the Lord Jesus.

When you wake up tomorrow, you can pray:

Psalm 68 repeatedly calls God’s people to sing, rejoice, and praise.

Your mountain may be large, but the Lord Jesus is greater.

The Lord Jesus Still Gives Victory

Psalm 68 closes with a declaration that the Lord gives strength and power to His people.

That is the message we need today.

You may feel weak, but you can depend on the Lord Jesus. You may feel alone, but He sees you. You may face opposition, but He remains victorious.

So, do not surrender to fear.

Do not allow discouragement to determine your future.
