Are You Ready? How You Spend Your Time Reveals Your Faith
Most believers say they are ready for Jesus to return.
However, many live as if He is never coming.
That tension creates stress, guilt, and confusion.
And as a Christian teacher and author who studies Scripture daily, I see this struggle often.
Therefore, this article will answer one question clearly:
What does Jesus actually expect us to be doing until He returns?
By the end, you will know how to prepare without fear, live with purpose, and use your time wisely, starting today
Why Time Reveals What We Truly Love
Time never lies.
In fact, the greatest measure of who we are and what we love is how we spend it.
Most of us spend time with family.
Then we spend time at work.
After that, we spend time on hobbies, goals, and dreams.
All of those things matter.
However, Jesus says something more matters.
He points our attention to eternity.
Therefore, the real question is not how busy you are.
Instead, the question is what you are busy preparing for.
The Problem: Many Christians Are Busy but Not Ready
Many believers focus on careers.
Others focus on relationships.
Some focus on money and comfort.
Yet none of those things prepare us for Christ’s return.
Jesus clearly said no one knows the day or hour of His return.
Because of that, many people stop thinking about it altogether.
Unfortunately, that leads to spiritual drift.
Instead of readiness, people fall into routine.
Instead of urgency, people grow comfortable.
So the problem is not ignorance.
The problem is misplaced priorities.
What Jesus Actually Said About Being Ready
Jesus never told us to calculate dates.
Instead, He told us to stay faithful.
He said He would return when we least expect Him.
Therefore, readiness is not about timing.
Readiness is about living prepared every day.
That means walking with Him now.
It means loving others consistently.
And it means using what God gave us faithfully.
How to Prepare for the Return of Jesus (Simple and Biblical)
1. Put Your Faith Fully in Jesus
Preparation begins with belief.
You must believe that Jesus gave His life so you could have eternal life.
This faith is not inherited.
It is personal.
Without faith, nothing else matters.
With faith, everything changes.
2. Spend Time With Jesus Daily
Next, commit to spending time with Him.
That includes prayer.
That includes confession.
That includes allowing His presence to transform you.
Transformation happens slowly.
However, it happens surely when time is invested consistently.
3. Grow Daily and Use Your Gifts Faithfully
Faith is alive when it grows.
Read Scripture.
Serve others.
Develop the gifts God placed inside you.
Jesus expects faithfulness, not perfection.
Small obedience still counts.
4. Share the Love of Jesus With Others
Faith was never meant to stay private.
Someone in your life needs hope.
Someone needs forgiveness.
Someone needs truth spoken in love.
You do not need a platform.
You only need willingness
A Simple Story: The Missed Opportunity
A man once said, “I’ll share my faith when life slows down.”
Life never did.
Years later, he realized the people closest to him never heard the gospel from him.
He had time, but he spent it elsewhere.
Time is always being spent.
The question is where.
What We Should Focus on Instead of Worrying
Jesus never told us to worry about His return.
He told us to work faithfully until He does.
Worry drains faith.
Preparation strengthens it.
So shift your focus.
Stop asking when.
Start asking how.
Reflection Moment: Pause and Pray
Right now, pause.
Ask yourself:
-
Who in my life needs to hear about Jesus?
-
Who have I been avoiding?
-
Who can I reach this week?
Then pray for courage.
And take one small step today.
