Choose Eternal Life Over Temporary Pleasure
The Cares of This Life Can Choke the Truth
First, we must admit that the cares of this life easily consume us. We think about possessions, land, houses, education, and our place in society. We worry about status and success. As a result, these concerns often choke the Word from our memory.
In fact, many of us have experienced this personally. We chase beauty, comfort, and achievement. Yet beauty fades. Health weakens. Wealth shifts. Everything tied to this body is temporary. Therefore, when we anchor our hope in temporary things, we set ourselves up for disappointment.
Meanwhile, knowledge continues to increase in our world. Technology advances. Information multiplies. However, as knowledge grows, many people become less confident in faith. Instead, we begin to trust ourselves more than the Lord Jesus. We claim self-sufficiency. We convince ourselves that progress means believing only in our own strength.
Consequently, our cry for pleasure becomes louder than our cry for godliness.

What Shall It Profit a Man?
However, the Lord Jesus Christ asked a question that still echoes today: What shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul? That question cuts through pride and ambition. It forces us to think beyond the present moment.
After all, we have only one life on earth. We do not get a second chance to live it differently. Therefore, the pursuit of eternal life must be our highest priority. This issue is bigger than careers, reputations, or financial security. It is about eternity.
Sadly, many people become buried in an endless pursuit of nothingness. We major in minor things. We give our best energy to temporary goals. At the same time, we lose interest in what truly matters.
So, we must pause and ask ourselves: What are we really living for?
Sin Is a Reproach
Scripture clearly teaches that sin is a reproach to any people. Sin damages families. It weakens nations. Most importantly, it separates us from the Lord Jesus Christ.
Furthermore, the Bible warns that our sins must be removed from the record. Otherwise, we face eternal separation. This truth is serious. It is not a small matter. Eternity is at stake.
Therefore, we cannot allow the pleasures of this life to outweigh the joy of eternal life. Temporary pleasure may feel satisfying for a moment. Yet eternal life brings lasting peace, purpose, and hope.
Search the Scriptures
Instead of drifting through life, we must search the Scriptures. In them, we find clear instruction on how to receive the gift of eternal life. The Lord Jesus has not hidden the way. He has revealed it plainly.
For example, in the book of Acts of the Apostles, chapter 2, verse 38, we see a clear call to respond. The message is direct. It is available to every person. No one is excluded because of background, status, or past mistakes.
Therefore, this opportunity is not complicated. It is not reserved for a select few. It is offered freely. The question is whether we will respond.
Do Not Miss This Opportunity
Today is the day to act. Tomorrow is not promised. Life is fragile. Circumstances can change quickly. So, do not delay.
Instead, ask yourself honestly: Have my sins been removed from the record? Am I pursuing eternal life with the same passion that I pursue temporary success?
Ultimately, nothing in this world compares to eternal life through the Lord Jesus Christ. Houses will crumble. Wealth will fade. Recognition will disappear. But eternal life will never end.
So choose wisely. Choose what lasts forever.
