God Is With You: How the Promise of Immanuel Still Brings Hope Today
Have you ever reached a moment in life where you whispered, “God, where are You?”
Maybe you asked that question in a hospital waiting room.
Or in a silent, sleepless night.
Or while trying to hold yourself together in front of people who never knew you were breaking inside.
Most believers do everything “right”: they pray, they worship, they try to serve.
Yet even with all of that, life still hurts. And the hurt makes us doubt God’s presence.
I understand that feeling because I’ve been there too.
So today, I want to guide you through a truth that has carried people for thousands of years.
God is with you, right now, and Isaiah 7:14 proves it.
And by the end of this message, you will know exactly what that promise means for your life today.
Isaiah’s Warning, and the Hope Hidden Within
Isaiah wrote his words 600 years before Jesus was born.
The people of Israel looked religious, but their hearts were distant from God.
They sang the songs, offered the sacrifices, and kept the rituals.
Yet they ignored justice, mercy, and obedience.
Then Isaiah delivered a warning.
However, even in that warning, God slipped in a promise—a reason to hope.
“A virgin will conceive… and His name will be Immanuel.” — Isaiah 7:14
Immanuel means God with us.
Not far away.
Not uninterested.
Not silent.
God with us.
God beside us.
God stepping into our story.
What “God With Us” Means for You Today
Even though this prophecy pointed to the birth of Jesus, it still speaks hope into your story today.
1. God Is With You in Pain
When you lose someone you love, Jesus is not watching from a distance.
He sits with you in the silence.
And He carries what your heart cannot.
2. God Is With You in Anger and Injustice
When the world feels unfair, Jesus understands that fire inside you.
He stands with those who cry out for justice.
He sees what others ignore.
3. God Is With You in Grief and Sadness
When you mourn what was taken or what never happened, God remains near.
He keeps track of every tear.
Nothing you feel is hidden from Him.
4. God Is With You in Joy
When you laugh, when you celebrate, and when blessings overflow—Jesus celebrates with you.
Because He delights in your joy.
5. God Is With You in Peace
When you choose mercy, when you choose kindness, and when you bring peace to a hurting world—
you reflect the One who lives within you.
6. God Is With You in Hope
When the path looks dark, Jesus lights the way.
He does not leave you wandering.
He leads you one step at a time.
A Story to Bring This Home
Let me share a simple story.
A woman once said, “I don’t feel God at all. I pray, but it feels like my prayers hit the ceiling.”
Later that year, her mother died, her job failed, and her marriage struggled.
Yet every time she thought she would fall apart
someone would call, someone would help, someone would pray, or someone would show up at just the right moment.
Then she realized something powerful:
God was with her the whole time.
Not always in a loud miracle.
But in small mercies that held her together.
And that’s how Immanuel works.
Quietly.
Faithfully.
Constantly.
The Real Problem We Face
The problem is not whether God is near.
The problem is that pain blinds us to His presence.
We look at our storms and assume God left.
But He never did.
He was there before the storm, during the storm, and after the storm.
So how do we fix this?
The Solution: Fixing Our Eyes on Jesus
We shift our focus.
We stop letting pain tell the story.
And we remember this truth:
From His birth to His throne in Heaven, Jesus has always been God with us.
When you trust Him daily, look for Him intentionally, and speak to Him honestly
you start recognizing His presence in places you never expected.
