Feeling Broken? Trust the Lord Jesus He Never Fails

When the Pain Feels Too Much

Let’s be honest, pain feels like a punch to the soul.

Whether it comes from heartbreak, illness, loss, or disappointment, pain demands our attention. We try to fix it. We seek relief. Often, we reach for anything that might dull the ache.

This is where I’ve been, too. As someone who’s faced loss and loneliness, I’ve run to things that never really helped. Chocolate, TV, endless scrolling, or even overworking, —none of these things cured the real issue. They simply numbed it for a moment.

But then I learned something that changed me forever.

The One Who Never Fails

God is not just a distant deity who watches us suffer. He is the source of comfort.

The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 1:3–4 (NLT):

“All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others.”

That verse didn’t just inform me, it rescued me. It reminded me that I didn’t need to carry the pain alone. God offers real help, not just temporary distractions.

He comforts. He consoles. He lifts up and heals. He strengthens when you feel weak. He refreshes you when your soul feels dry.

And He doesn’t stop there. When God comforts you, He empowers you to comfort others.

God’s Comfort Is Personal and Powerful

You might be asking, How do I feel God’s comfort?

It’s a fair question, one I’ve asked through tears on more than one occasion.

The answer is found in leaning into His presence. It means praying honestly, reading His Word, and allowing others in the faith to walk with you. Comfort often arrives through a friend’s hug, a timely verse, or peace you can’t explain.

Paul and Timothy knew this well. Their lives were full of danger, rejection, and persecution. Yet they praised God not for avoiding pain, but for meeting them in their pain.

You can experience the same.

Signs You Might Be Seeking False Comfort

God wants to be your comfort, but sometimes we run to other things first. Ask yourself:

  • Do I binge eat or drink when I’m upset?

  • Do I scroll endlessly through social media just to escape my feelings?

  • Do I keep myself too busy to think or feel?

These are warning signs. They might bring temporary relief but they never solve the core issue.

A Better Way: Cry Out to the True Comforter

Instead of numbing your pain, let God into it. Say, “Lord, I’m hurting, and I need You.” Let His Spirit meet you right where you are. His comfort is not cold or clinical. It’s personal, warm, and full of hope.

And remember, He also works through people. So don’t isolate yourself. Reach out to a trusted friend, pastor, or Christian counselor. The body of Christ exists to carry one another’s burdens.

Real-Life Example: “I Didn’t Know God Could Care That Much”

Emily lost her husband unexpectedly. Her world shattered. For weeks, she tried everything to escape the grief, shopping, movies, alcohol. Nothing worked.

Then she opened her Bible and read 2 Corinthians 1:3–4.

That night, she cried out to God honestly for the first time. Peace didn’t come instantly, but slowly, she felt His presence. Through prayer, community, and journaling scripture, healing began.

She now leads a support group for widows and tells them, “God didn’t erase my pain, but He sat with me in it. That changed everything.”

Let God Use You

Here’s the best part: once you’ve received God’s comfort, He can use you to comfort others. Pain has purpose when it’s placed in God’s hands.

You become the voice of hope to someone else who feels lost. You become the person who says, “I’ve been there, and God carried me through.”

Final Thoughts: The Comfort That Lasts

Life will have pain. That’s a fact.

But God’s comfort is greater. He doesn’t remove all pain, but He walks with you through it. His peace fills the gaps nothing else can reach.

So today, stop running to temporary fixes. Cry out to the source of comfort. God is waiting, and He is able.
