God Sees It All: Finding Hope in Psalm 94

God Is Our Comfort in a Broken World

Why Does God Allow So Much Pain?

Have you ever turned on the news and felt your chest tighten?
Have you ever wondered why evil seems louder than goodness?
And have you ever asked, “If God sees all this, why doesn’t He stop it?”

You are not alone.
And more importantly, you are not wrong for asking.

I have wrestled with this question as a believer, teacher of Scripture, and fellow traveler in faith.
And today, we will face this tension honestly.
Then, we will walk through Psalm 94 together.
Finally, we will discover how God becomes our comfort when the world feels unbearable.

The Real Problem: Pain Makes Us Question God

Pain has a way of shaking faith.
And injustice has a way of silencing hope.

Everywhere we look, we see war, corruption, violence, and betrayal.
As a result, many people blame God.
They assume He does not care.
Or worse, they assume He does not see.

This is not a modern problem.
This is a human problem.

Psalm 94: A Cry from a Broken Heart

Psalm 94 opens with anger and grief.
And King David does not hide his emotions.

In verses 1–7, David points out rampant wickedness.
He describes arrogant people harming the innocent.
He even quotes those who say, “The Lord does not see.”

Yet David refuses to stay there.
Instead, he redirects our focus.

God Sees, Hears, and Knows Everything

David reminds his audience of one essential truth.
God is the Creator.

Because God formed the ear, He hears every cry.
Because God formed the eye, He sees every injustice.
And because God formed the mind, He understands every thought (Psalm 94:8–11).

This changes everything.

God is not distant.
God is not distracted.
And God is not indifferent.

When Anxiety Multiplies, God Comforts

Then comes one of the most powerful verses in the psalm:

“When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul.” (Psalm 94:19)

David’s comfort did not come from circumstances changing.
Instead, it came from God’s presence.

The world was still broken.
The wicked were still active.
Yet God met David in the middle of his distress.

And God still does that today.

God Is Our Stronghold, Not Our Escape

Psalm 94 does not sugarcoat reality.
And that is why it resonates so deeply.

David ends the psalm declaring God as his refuge and rock (verses 22–23).
He trusts God’s justice, even when it is delayed.
And he rests in God’s character, even when answers are unclear.

This is biblical faith.
Not denial.
Not escapism.
But anchored hope.

The Cross: Proof That God Cares

God did not ignore evil.
Instead, He confronted it at the cross.

Through Jesus Christ, God dealt with sin, shame, and death.
And through the resurrection, He promised restoration.

Evil has an expiration date.
And justice will have the final word.

Until then, God offers comfort.
Not explanations.
Not shortcuts.
But His presence.

How to Live Psalm 94:19 Today

So what do we do while we wait?

First, we bring God our cares.
Then, we trust Him with what we cannot fix.
Finally, we allow His truth to steady our hearts.

Your fears matter.
Your questions matter.
And your pain matters to God.

Final Encouragement: God Will Cheer Your Soul

The world is still broken.
But God is still faithful.

Just like David, we can say with confidence:

“When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul.”

And then we can live it out.
One prayer at a time.
One surrender at a time.
One day at a time.
