Sharing the Love of God, Our Father
A Message We Still Need Today
Have you ever felt the pain of broken family relationships? Maybe it’s a father who feels distant, a child who has drifted away, or siblings who no longer speak. These moments can cut deep, leaving us wondering if true love and unity are even possible.
The Bible speaks directly into that pain. In fact, the prophet Malachi gave us a message that is just as relevant today as it was thousands of years ago. As someone who has studied Scripture and shared God’s Word for years, I can assure you that God’s love is powerful enough to restore what feels lost. So, let’s walk through Malachi’s prophecy, John the Baptist’s mission, and what this means for our lives right now.
Malachi’s Prophecy of Restoration
Malachi’s words were full of warning, but also hope. He told of a time when God would send a messenger like Elijah to turn people’s hearts back to Him. That messenger turned out to be John the Baptist (Matthew 3:1–12).
John’s mission was clear. He preached repentance. He called people to turn away from sin and return to God. And he baptized them in the Jordan River as a visible sign of their new beginning. Those who believed his message and trusted in the coming Messiah, Jesus, experienced forgiveness, restoration, and salvation.
The same God who called people back through John is still calling us today. His heart is for His people to be saved and restored.
The Family as God’s Reflection
One of the most striking parts of Malachi’s prophecy is God’s focus on families. He promised to turn the hearts of fathers back to their children and children back to their fathers. Why? Because the family is central to God’s mission.
The family unit reflects God’s relationship with His church. When love and forgiveness flow within families, the world gets a glimpse of God’s love for His people. Yet, we know families aren’t perfect. Many of us carry wounds from brokenness. Still, God calls us to live with love and grace while we await the full restoration He promises.
Living the Love of God, Our Father
So, how do we live this out in daily life? Start with intentional love. Parents can reflect God’s love by being present, listening, and encouraging their children. Children can honor God by showing love and respect to their parents. And all of us, whether married, single, parents, or children can share the love of God, our Father, by caring for others around us.
Here’s a simple truth: small actions can carry eternal weight. A phone call to a parent, a prayer with your child before bed, or a word of encouragement to someone in need, these all communicate God’s love.
A Story of Hope
I once met a father who had been estranged from his teenage son for years. Their relationship was strained with anger and silence. But when the father turned his heart to God, he began writing his son letters, simple notes filled with love and Scripture. Slowly, the walls came down. Eventually, father and son prayed together for the first time in years. That moment was a picture of Malachi’s prophecy fulfilled: hearts restored by the love of God.

Final Encouragement
The love of God, our Father, is not distant. It is active, personal, and restorative. Malachi’s prophecy and John the Baptist’s mission remind us that God’s desire is to bring people back to Him and back to each other. While no family is perfect, we can live with hope. One day, God will fully restore all things. Until then, we can share His love in every relationship we touch.
