Do you want to have success in Christ? This will help you overcome the challenges you face in life. If you’re going to have the victory, I suggest you follow Mary’s example.

Luke 1 verses 46 -47 “And Mary said, my soul doth magnify the Lord, and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior.”

Frightening Experience

Years ago, a lady was flying on a plane when in midflight it lost both engines and began to plummet to the earth. As it did so, about half the people on the plane began to cry out to the Lord, praying and praising Jesus, the other half screamed profanity, suddenly the engine kicked back on, and they flew safely home. The lady said they were all left to ponder when we encounter the unexpected what rises out of us. Is it praise or profanity. “because out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks” (Matthew 12:34)

why do I mention this, in this text Mary is encountering the unexpected, she is visited by an angel who says you are going to be pregnant, and Joseph is not the dad. It would be a supernatural birth of the son of the Highest and He would sit on the throne of His father David forever. What would you do or say if you had such an encounter?

Follow the Angel

The angel gave her a sign to go see her aging relative Elizabeth and she will be six months pregnant. Mary saw her, and everything was as the angel had told her. Elizabeth says blessed are you because you believe what the lord told you and Mary explodes into this praise” My soul doth magnify the Lord, and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior.” When Mary encounters the unexpected the overflow of her heart is Joy, which becomes praise to a God who is accomplishing His purposes through Jesus Christ.

Mary

How did she do it, some may say, because she is Mary, and she is special and that is true but there is something for all of us to learn here. As you look at Mary’s prayer, she is sampling texts from all over the Old Testament Hannah’s prayer from first Samuel 2, the Psalms, Habakkuk 3. Mary had loaded her mind with thoughts of God that had filled her heart with affection for God, so when she encountered the unexpected in the world, the word informed her response, and she said this is happening in according to what God had promised to Abraham and you and I can do this too.

What You Should Do

I am encouraging you to keep doing this, mold your mind with the word of God, and let it fill your heart so that when you encounter the unexpected in the world what rises out of you is rejoicing in a God who is accomplishing His purposes, because you see what He is up to, because you know His Word.
