An Example Worth Following

A Pain Point We All Share

Have you ever felt betrayed, overlooked, or misunderstood? Maybe you’ve tried to do the right thing, but instead of appreciation, you faced rejection. That hurts deeply. Yet, here’s where my heart leans in: Jesus faced this pain too, but He handled it in a way that changes everything.

I’ve spent years studying and teaching Scripture, and one thing always stands out: Jesus did not just preach love, He lived it. He gave us an example worth following. Today, let’s explore how His humility and obedience can shape our lives.

Jesus Showed Us a Better Way

When soldiers mocked Him, Jesus did not fight back. When they stripped Him and crowned Him with thorns, He stood silently. When they crucified Him, He chose love over retaliation. That is strength wrapped in humility.

The Bible says in Philippians 2:6-8 that even though Jesus was God, He gave up His privileges, became human, and died on the cross. He did this willingly. Why? Because of love.

Humility That Transforms Lives

Now, let’s get practical. How can we follow this example in our daily lives? Humility is not weakness. It’s strength under control. It means valuing others above ourselves. It means letting go of pride, bitterness, and selfish ambition.

When we put others first, unity grows. When we forgive, love deepens. And when we serve without expecting anything in return, the world sees Jesus through us.

The Power of Unity

Jesus prayed that His followers would be united. Unity happens when we love one another as He loved us (John 15:12-13). True unity isn’t about agreeing on everything. It’s about choosing love over division.

Think about it. What if families chose forgiveness over grudges? What if churches embraced humility instead of competition? What if we, as followers of Christ, lived with open hands and open hearts? The world would look different.

A Challenge for You Today

Here’s where it becomes personal. Who can you love today? Who needs your forgiveness, your patience, or your kindness? You may not be called to die on a cross, but you are called to lay down your pride, your preferences, and even your plans for the sake of others.
