“New Year, New YOU: Start Fresh with Christ!”

2 Corinthians 5 -17, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

The New Life is Here

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ the new creation has come, the old is gone, and the new is here. Are you a morning person or an evening person? Some people are at their best in the morning, and some are at their best in the evening. At the same time, some are never at their best. Which one are you? Are You a Morning or Evening Person

If I am at my best, it is in the evening, I am not an early-morning person. I have always started my day early, but I get going by around 9 am and get stronger throughout the day. I used to coach soccer in the evenings for years and working and impacting the lives of young men is my passion and that is what influenced me to be an evening person. So, I still have the habit of going to bed very late.

Love Made the Change

I have a friend who was a morning person who was always in bed by ten o’clock each night. Until he met this girl, he started to spend all night talking to her. She eventually became his wife. When he met her, a new life had begun because he fell in love, and he changed his routine. Relationships are really exciting and the most exciting relationship of all is a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Who Do You Belong To?

So, Paul in 2 Corinthians 5 -17, says anyone who belongs to Christ, has become a new person, the old life is gone, and a new life has begun. Becoming a Christian is the start of a new life. Like many others, I encountered Jesus through my friend’s influence and reading the bible. I was an unbeliever, but Jesus influenced my situation and turned my heart to Him. Cultivate the Habit of Reading

As I started to regularly read the bible it was as though the person of Jesus Christ emerged from the pages and my mind was luminated. I encountered Him and a love relationship with Jesus began to be formed and totally transformed my life. I experienced Jesus’s love for me and committed myself to love Him forever. But it is not just the initial faith that comes through the bible it is your continuing faith and growth. For the past 30 years, I have read the bible practically every day, yet I am constantly seeing and discovering new things. My thoughts for each day inspire me and keep driving me forward through life’s challenges.

New Year

As we are starting a new year, I want to encourage you to start by challenging yourself to read the whole bible over the next year and as you read the bible expect that you will encounter our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Daily.

Let us pray, Lord Jesus, You are with me in hard times and in good times. You protected me at all times, my future is secure in You because I am your child. So, today I give my life and my year over to You. Teach me to seek You first this year so that I can embrace the abundant life that You offer me. Thank You Lord Jesus amen.
