Introduction: Faith Can Feel Foolish, But Here’s Why You Must Hold On
At some point, every Christian hits a wall.
Maybe you have tried your best to follow God’s ways, yet life seems to fall apart anyway.
When your marriage crumbles, your health fails, or your friends betray you, obedience to Jesus can feel not just hard but foolish.
I get it because I have been there too.
Still, leaning into Christ, especially when it feels foolish, is the key to real victory and peace.
In today’s blog, I’ll share real examples from Scripture and life.
You’ll discover why God’s ways often seem backwards—and how to stay faithful when everything inside you screams to give up.
When God’s Instructions Sound Impossible
First, think about the story of the Israelites in captivity.
Jeremiah the prophet told them they would spend seventy long years in Babylon (Jeremiah 29:10).
Many would not even live to see their freedom.
Still, God said, “Build houses and settle down… Seek the peace and prosperity of the city” (Jeremiah 29:5-7).
At that moment, it must have felt cruel.
Why bless the land of your captors?
Yet, in God’s bigger plan, their obedience laid the foundation for future generations to thrive.
In the same way, when Jesus spoke about marriage, even the disciples were stunned.
They exclaimed, “If this is the situation between a husband and wife, it is better not to marry!” (Matthew 19:10).
Thus, obedience has never been easy, and it rarely feels natural.
Your Struggles Are Not Proof That God Has Failed
Now, fast forward to today.
Suppose your marriage is strained. Your spouse talks about divorce and speaks cruel words against you. You feel wrongly accused, deeply wounded, and utterly alone.
Even worse, you read the words of Jesus, “Forgive… Let no root of bitterness spring up” (Hebrews 12:15), and your heart cries, “How?”
This is where faith that looks foolish becomes real faith.
Holding onto kindness when your heart screams for revenge is not weakness; it is Christlike strength.
Choosing peace when you could choose anger marks you as His follower.
But How Do You Stay Faithful When It Hurts?
Thankfully, God never leaves us without a roadmap.
Here are practical ways you can stay faithful even when obedience feels impossible:
Pray raw and honest prayers.
Tell God exactly how you feel.
David poured out his anger, sadness, and confusion in the Psalms—and so can you.
Anchor yourself in Scripture daily.
Even a short passage reminds your weary heart of God’s truth.
Choose forgiveness every day.
Forgiveness is not a one-time event but a daily decision to trust God with the hurt.
Surround yourself with faith-filled people.
Community strengthens what isolation tries to destroy.
Focus on God’s bigger story, not just today’s pain.
Like the Israelites, your suffering now could plant seeds of future blessing.
Story: When I Thought Obedience Was Foolish
Not long ago, a close friend betrayed my trust. Everything inside me wanted to shut down, cut them off, and never look back.
Yet, as I prayed, I felt God whisper, “Love them anyway.” It felt foolish. It felt like handing a thief the keys to my heart again. But I obeyed.
Over time, God healed parts of my heart I did not even know were broken. And amazingly, He restored that friendship in a way that made both of us stronger.
Therefore, when obedience feels stupid, you are likely right where God wants to do His best work.

When you love without limits, forgive without reason, and hope without visible results, you reflect Jesus best.
