The Great Love of Jesus
When You Feel Unloved, Remember This
Have you ever felt like you weren’t enough, like you had to earn love? Maybe you’ve wondered if anyone truly sees you. In this world full of rejection, betrayal, and comparison, love often feels conditional. That’s the pain point many of us carry.
But I want to assure you: the greatest love you’ll ever experience is already offered to you freely, completely, and forever. As a faith writer who has walked with Jesus for many years, I’ve discovered that everything changes when you understand the great love of Jesus. Today, I want to help you discover it, receive it, and share it.
God Created You in Love
To begin with, love is the reason we exist.
You are breathing right now because God loves you.
In fact, God didn’t need us, but He wanted us. That’s powerful. He formed us to receive His deep, personal love.
1 John 4:9 makes it plain. God showed His love by sending His Son, Jesus, into the world. This love didn’t wait for us to become perfect. Instead, it reached out to us while we were still lost, broken, and unworthy.
Jesus Proved God’s Love in Action
Even more, Jesus didn’t just talk about love; He lived it.
He lived a sinless life, representing us before God. He took the penalty for our sins through His death. Then, He rose again, offering us new life and a fresh start.
So now, you and I don’t have to earn God’s love.
We simply have to receive it.
There’s nothing about us that qualifies us for His love, but that’s the beauty of grace.
That’s why 1 John 4:7 reminds us: “Love comes from God.”
He’s the source, not just the example.
Love Is Also Our Greatest Calling
Now that we’ve received this great love, what do we do with it?
Jesus gave us the answer. He said the greatest commandments are to love God and love people.
However, loving people isn’t always easy.
People hurt us. Disappoint us. Ignore us.
But God’s love gives us the power to love anyway.
Why? Because we are simply giving others what we’ve freely received.
1 John 4:7-8 tells us:
“Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God… because God is love.”
So, if we claim to know God, our lives must reflect His love.
How Can You Show the Love of Jesus Today?
You might wonder: “What does this look like in everyday life?”
Great question. It starts small, but real.
Here are a few simple yet powerful ways to love like Jesus this week:
-
Spend time with someone who feels forgotten.
-
Write a note of encouragement to a struggling friend.
-
Meet a need for someone without expecting anything in return.
-
Listen more. Judge less.
Love isn’t always loud.
Sometimes it’s quiet faithfulness.
Sometimes it’s just being present.
A Story to Reflect On
Let me tell you about a woman I met at church named Elaine.
Elaine was battling cancer, and though she was physically weak, her spirit was strong. Every week, a group of young women brought her meals and sat with her. They didn’t preach. They didn’t try to fix anything.
They just loved.
When Elaine passed, her daughter said, “Mom knew God loved her because of how you showed up.”
That’s the love of Jesus in action.
Now It’s Your Turn
Jesus gave you a love that changed your life. Now you can give it away.
