The Peace the World Cannot Give

The world continues to search for peace through power. Governments speak of stability through strength, order through force, and security through dominance. In recent years, critics have pointed to policies associated with President Donald Trump as examples of this approach, using military pressure, covert force, economic sanctions, and tariffs as tools to compel obedience and deter opposition.

Some have claimed that force has been used in the Caribbean against suspected vessels, that lethal action has been taken without trial, and that military pressure has been directed toward nations such as Venezuela and parts of Africa, including Nigeria. At the same time, many observers note a reluctance to apply the same level of force toward powerful nations like Russia or China. Whether one agrees with these assessments or not, they reveal a deeper truth: the world defines peace through power, not through transformation

Peace Through Force Is Uneven and Selective

Worldly peace is rarely consistent. It often targets the weak while negotiating with the strong. Smaller or unstable nations face sanctions, military threats, or economic pressure, while powerful nations are handled with caution. This imbalance exposes the true nature of peace by force; it is not moral peace, but strategic control.

Force can stop behavior temporarily, but it cannot produce justice. Death without trial, coercion without mercy, and punishment without repentance only deepen resentment. Even when violence is justified as protection, it leaves wounds that linger for generations. The world may call this peace, but Scripture calls it something else.

Jesus Offered a Different Kind of Peace

Jesus Christ spoke directly to this contrast when He said, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you” (John 14:27). The peace of Christ is not enforced at gunpoint. It does not come through bombs, sanctions, or fear. It comes through changed hearts.

The world says peace is achieved when enemies are silenced. Jesus says peace is achieved when enemies are reconciled. One rules through intimidation. The other rules through love and truth.

The Glory of God Is Not in Violence

God’s glory has never rested in weapons, armies, or economic dominance. Scripture declares, “Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith the Lord of hosts” (Zechariah 4:6). Governments may rely on force to control behavior, but God works by transforming the inner man.

Bombs can destroy infrastructure. Tariffs can cripple economies. Military pressure can topple regimes. But none of these can cleanse sin, heal hatred, or reconcile humanity to God. Only the gospel can do that.

The Gospel of Peace Changes Leaders and Nations

The peace of God comes through the gospel, the gospel of peace. This message does not threaten death; it offers life. It calls all people, from presidents to peasants, to repentance and humility before God.

Jesus Christ was in the world, and the world was made by Him, yet the world did not know Him (John 1:10). He came to His own people, and they rejected Him. Still, He did not retaliate. He did not call down armies. Instead, He laid down His life, rose again on the third day, and defeated sin and death through obedience.

This is peace through sacrifice, not domination.

Peace Began in Jerusalem, Not a War Room

After His resurrection, Jesus sent His apostles to preach this peace to the world. It began in Jerusalem on the Day of Pentecost, recorded in Acts chapter 2. Peter did not threaten the crowd. He preached repentance, baptism in the name of Jesus Christ, and the promise of the Holy Ghost.

That message sparked a revolution more powerful than any military campaign. It did not conquer territory. It conquered hearts.

If Leaders Had the Peace of Jesus

If the leaders of the world truly had the peace of Jesus Christ in their hearts, they would treat one another differently. There would be no war driven by pride, no violence rooted in fear, no domination of the weak by the strong. Nations would pursue justice, mercy, and humility instead of power and control.

This is not political idealism. It is spiritual reality. The absence of peace in the world reflects the absence of Christ in the heart.

The Only Peace That Lasts

Jesus commanded that this gospel be preached to every nation. Mark 16:16 declares, “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.” This is God’s path to peace, not force, not fear, not power, but faith and obedience.

The peace of God passes all understanding. It brings eternal life. It allows the Holy Ghost to dwell within human hearts and reshape the world from the inside out.

True Peace Is Found at the Feet of Jesus

Until the world bows before Christ, it will never truly know peace. Real peace is not negotiated in war rooms or enforced by weapons. It is found at the feet of the Lord Jesus Christ, the only One who can give peace that never fades.

Blessed are those who follow Him.
