There Is No Other Name: The Power of Jeshua for Salvation

Why Names in the Bible Matter

First, let’s talk about names. In the Bible, names aren’t random. They reveal God’s nature. Each time God did something new, He introduced Himself with a name that matched His work.

For example:

Jehovah Jireh – The Lord Will Provide (Genesis 22:14)
Jehovah Rapha – The Lord Who Heals (Exodus 15:26)
Jehovah Nissi – The Lord Our Banner (Exodus 17:15)
Jehovah Shalom – The Lord Is Peace (Judges 6:24)
Jehovah Rohi – The Lord My Shepherd (Psalm 23:1)
Jehovah Tsidkenu – The Lord Our Righteousness (Jeremiah 23:6)

Each name revealed God’s character and role. But all of them pointed to something greater, a day when God would reveal His name in full.

Jeshua: The Name That Saves

Then came Jeshua, also known in English as Jesus. This name isn’t just special, it’s sacred. Jeshua means “God saves” or “Yahweh is salvation.” It comes from the Hebrew verb yasha—meaning to deliver or rescue.

So why is this name so important?

Because in Acts 4:12, Peter says:

“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

And in Ephesians 3:15, Paul reminds us:

“Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named.”

When God took on flesh, He gave that body a name, Jeshua. The name wasn’t chosen randomly. It revealed God’s final and greatest work, salvation.

Many think of Jesus as just the Son, separate from God. But the Bible says something different.

“To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself…” (2 Corinthians 5:19)

God is a Spirit (John 4:24). He’s eternal. But to save us, He prepared a body, born of Mary, and gave that body His name: Jeshua.

There is no eternal Son, only the Father is eternal. The Son was begotten in time, not before time. But God is eternal, and we see Him in the face of Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 4:6).

That changes everything. When we call on Jeshua, we aren’t calling on a helper, we’re calling on the Almighty God, the Everlasting Father.

It means:

You don’t have to be confused. The Bible is clear: salvation comes in one name, Jeshua.
You can be confident. When you call on His name, you’re calling on the fullness of God.

You can have a new life. Acts 2:38 gives the response:

“Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”

I remember talking to a friend who believed any sincere prayer was enough. But she constantly doubted her salvation. After a Bible study, she saw the power of Jeshua’s name in Scripture. She was baptized in His name, and the peace that flooded her heart changed her life.

Now she knows, not guesses, that she belongs to the family named in Jeshua.
