Keep It Up: Don’t Quit Doing Good
When You’re Tired, You’re Not Alone
Have you ever felt so drained that you wanted to stop trying?
Maybe you poured your heart into caring for your family, supporting your church, or staying faithful in a tough situation. Yet all you felt in return was exhaustion. That’s not just your story, it’s a shared struggle.
Even people strong in faith grow tired.
That’s why Paul wrote these words to the Galatians:
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9, NIV)
Paul wasn’t writing from a place of ease.
He understood persecution. He knew the pressure of trying to do good when the world pushes back. And still, his message was clear: keep doing good.
Why Doing Good Feels So Hard Sometimes
Doing good takes energy.
Helping others, forgiving enemies, staying honest, or being patient when life feels unfair none of this comes naturally when you’re worn down.
In fact, the more good you try to do, the more opposition you may face.
It could be the emotional toll of always being the one people lean on.
Or the quiet pain of giving and feeling unnoticed.
Even spiritual fatigue, praying but not hearing answers can make your heart want to give up.
But Paul’s words remind us: don’t quit now.
There’s a Promise in the Pain
Paul compares our good works to planting seeds.
Farmers don’t see fruit the day they plant. They water. They wait. They work.
Likewise, our efforts may feel fruitless today.
But there is a harvest ahead.
It might not come in the way we expect.
It might not even come when we expect.
But God sees. God remembers. God rewards.
The work you’re doing matters even when it feels small.
The way you love others, serve in silence, or keep going when nobody claps, it all counts.
Real-Life Example: Ashley’s Story
Ashley worked two jobs, raised three kids, and still led a Bible study on Tuesdays.
Every week she questioned, “Does this even matter?”
One night, she wanted to cancel it all. She felt empty.
But that same night, one of the women from her group shared that the study had saved her from walking away from God.
Ashley cried.
Not from exhaustion but from realizing: her obedience was someone else’s breakthrough.
You may never know the impact you’re having.
But God does. So, keep going.
What You Can Do Today
Now that you know the promise, how can you press on?
Try these simple actions:
-
Pray for strength instead of quitting.
-
Talk to someone who will encourage you.
-
Celebrate small wins even one step forward matters.
-
Rest wisely even Jesus paused to recharge.
Reflection Questions:
Take a moment and ask yourself:
-
Who in your life needs help or hope today?
-
What good thing have you been putting off because you’re tired?
-
How can you remind yourself of God’s promise when you feel like giving up?

Final Encouragement: Keep It Up
You may be in a difficult season.
You may feel like your efforts don’t matter.
But the truth of Galatians 6:9 still stands, a harvest is coming.
God honors your work. He strengthens your spirit. He sees the weariness. And He promises: if you do not give up, you will reap.
So keep it up.
Even when no one notices.
Even when it’s hard.
Even when you feel done.
The reward is coming.
