A Clear Path to God: How Jesus Removed Every Obstacle
Have you ever felt like something stood between you and God?
Maybe it was shame. Maybe it was your past. Or maybe life just got too noisy. Whatever it was, you’re not alone. Many people—good, honest, seeking people—find themselves asking: “Why does it feel so hard to reach God sometimes?”
I’ve been there. I’ve wrestled with that same silence, and I’ve watched others do the same. But I’ve also discovered that God never wanted it to be this way. In fact, Jesus once did something bold and shocking to make that clear.
Let’s talk about that moment—and how it still changes everything for us today.
When Jesus Flipped Tables
Right after Jesus entered Jerusalem, He walked into the Temple and found chaos. There were merchants, animals, and money changers. The place that was meant to be a house of prayer looked more like a noisy market.
Instead of ignoring it, Jesus acted.
He flipped tables. He let the animals go. He shouted, “My house will be called a house of prayer, but you are making it a den of thieves!” (Matthew 21:13).
But why was He so angry?
It wasn’t just about overpriced doves and coins. It was about what those things represented: barriers between people and God.
Two Kinds of Robbery
First, there was the financial robbery. The merchants were charging high prices for sacrifices. Travelers had no choice but to pay. It was unfair.
But the second robbery hurt even more.
It was spiritual. The poor, the outsiders, the ones truly hungry for God—were being pushed out. They couldn’t afford the “entry fee.” The very place meant to welcome them was now blocking them.
That’s what broke Jesus’ heart.
And it still breaks His heart today when we face anything that makes us feel unworthy or unwelcome in His presence.
Jesus Cleared the Way—For You
What Jesus did in that Temple wasn’t just about flipping tables. It was about flipping the system. He made a bold statement: “There should be nothing between people and God. No gatekeepers. No costs. No judgment.”
That moment was a physical picture of a deeper spiritual truth.
In Jesus, every wall falls.
Every excuse. Every shameful memory. Every voice that says, “You’re not good enough.” He has already cleared the path.
Real-Life Example: I Thought I Had to Earn It
A friend of mine once told me, “I thought I had to get my life together before I came to God.”
She grew up thinking church was only for people who didn’t mess up.
But one Sunday, she heard someone preach about this moment in Matthew 21. It hit her like lightning: “Jesus doesn’t wait for me to be perfect. He already made a way for me to come.”
She cried. Not out of guilt—but out of relief.
Now, she prays boldly, walks in freedom, and encourages others to do the same.
Your Clear Path Is Waiting
So, what’s standing in your way?
Fear? Guilt? Confusion? Let this be the moment where you flip the table, too. Jesus already made the way. You just need to walk it.
You don’t need to pay. You don’t need to prove yourself. You don’t need to clean up first.
You just need to come.
