He’s Been There: Finding Comfort in a Savior Who Understands
Have you ever felt like no one gets what you’re going through?
That crushing loneliness, the heavy silence after tears, the ache of carrying pain that won’t go away. You pray, but it feels like no one is listening. You try to keep it together, but inside, you’re falling apart. As someone who writes and walks through these same moments, I’ve been there, and I know Jesus has too.
Jesus didn’t come as a distant figure on a throne. He stepped into our shoes. That’s not just theology. That’s the truth meant to wrap around your heart and hold you up when life brings you to your knees.
Let’s take a moment to really understand how Jesus can meet us in our suffering, and more importantly, what that means for your everyday life.
He Wept Like We Do
The book of Hebrews gives us a moving look into Jesus’ emotional life:
“In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears…” (Hebrews 5:7 ESV)
These weren’t quiet whispers. They were loud cries, raw, honest, desperate prayers. Jesus poured out His heart to the Father with tears streaming down His face.
Right away, that tells us something powerful: Jesus understands your pain because He felt it Himself.
Think about it. The Savior of the world cried. He knew what it was like to be overwhelmed, to feel sorrow, to plead with God for help.
He Was Heard Because He Trusted
Jesus didn’t stop at crying. He trusted. The verse continues:
“…to Him who was able to save Him from death, and He was heard because of His reverence.”
Even when death was near, Jesus held on. That reverence wasn’t a cold ritual. It was deep trust, the same kind of trust we’re called to have when life feels impossible.
Jesus teaches us that our pain can be sacred. That we can come to God with loud cries and still believe He listens.
He Knows What It’s Like to Be You
Maybe you’re wondering, “But Jesus was God, how could He really understand what I feel?”
Hebrews 4:15 answers that too:
“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses…”
He didn’t skip the hard parts. Jesus felt the same frustrations, temptations, and emotional struggles we do. Yet, He didn’t sin. That makes Him the perfect companion for your journey, not just your judge.
He Wants You to Bring It All
Now here’s the question: If Jesus has been there, why do we still hide our feelings from Him?
Maybe it’s shame. Or fear. Or you think it’s too small to matter. But the same Jesus who wept in Gethsemane wants you to bring your raw, unfiltered heart to Him.
You don’t need perfect words. You don’t need to fix yourself first.
You just need to come.
Storytime: My Breaking Point
I remember one evening sitting alone on my couch. The room was quiet, but my mind was screaming. Everything felt like too much. I was trying to be strong, but I finally whispered, “God, I can’t do this anymore.”
In that stillness, I felt a presence. Not a loud voice, but a quiet understanding. It was as if Jesus was saying, “I’ve been there too.”
And in that moment, I realized, He didn’t just save me from my sin. He sits with me in my sadness.
Your Turn: Will You Trust Him With It?
Let this blog be more than words. Make it a turning point. Ask yourself:
What pain have I been carrying that I haven’t brought to Jesus?
He’s not asking you to have it all figured out. He’s asking you to trust Him with your mess, your tears, your deepest doubts.
