The Problem We Often Overlook

You love God. You believe in Jesus. You try to follow Him. Yet, if you’re honest, it’s easy to focus on your own blessings and forget to share them.
We live in a culture that celebrates getting over giving. Even Christians can slip into that mindset. We receive God’s grace but sometimes keep it to ourselves.

I know this because I’ve done it. I’ve been so wrapped up in my own spiritual growth that I missed the needs right in front of me. But here’s the truth: Jesus never lived that way.

Jesus’ Example

Jesus spent most of His ministry helping people. He touched the sick. He fed the hungry. He sat with the outcast. And He told us to do the same.
Paul reminded the leaders in Ephesus of this in Acts 20:35: “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” He wasn’t boasting about his own generosity, he was pointing back to Jesus.

When we follow Christ’s example, we discover something amazing: loving others doesn’t drain us it fills us.

The Blessing in Giving

Giving isn’t just about money. It’s about time, attention, encouragement, and presence. Every time you choose to serve instead of self-indulge, you live out the very reason God created you.
We were made to love God and love others. It’s not an optional add-on it’s the heart of the Christian life.

Think about it: who in your life has blessed you the most? Chances are, it wasn’t someone who gave you things it was someone who gave you themselves.

Practical Ways to Love Others

It’s easy to feel inspired but unsure where to start. Here are simple ways to live this out:

At work – Help a struggling coworker with their task.
In your neighborhood – Offer to run errands for an elderly neighbor.
At school – Invite the lonely student to sit with you.
Online – Send an encouraging message to someone going through a hard time.

The more you do it, the more it becomes a habit.

Why It Matters

When you choose to bless others, you reflect the heart of God to a watching world. People see Jesus in you. And as Jesus promised, you’ll experience joy that can’t be matched by anything you keep for yourself.

So, don’t wait for the perfect time to start. Love is an action, not a future plan.
