How to Experience the “Immeasurably More” Life
Many people read Ephesians 3:20 (KJV) and stop after feeling encouraged. However, encouragement alone does not transform a life. Instead, transformation happens when we respond in faith and obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ.
The good news is that the Lord Jesus Christ has invited every believer to participate in His work. Although He does not need us, He lovingly chooses to work through willing hearts.
So, how can you experience His “exceeding abundantly above” promise?
1. Give All the Glory to the Lord Jesus Christ
Success can become a dangerous trap if we begin believing we earned it on our own. Therefore, every blessing should point us back to the One who gave it.
The Lord Jesus Christ deserves every ounce of praise because every good gift comes from Him. Moreover, He deserves the glory before the blessing, during the blessing, and after the blessing.
When we give Him the glory, we acknowledge that our strength, wisdom, opportunities, and victories come from Him alone.
The Apostle Paul understood this truth well. Although he planted churches, preached the gospel, and endured suffering, he never took credit for the results. Instead, he continually pointed people to the Lord Jesus Christ.
Likewise, our lives should become mirrors that reflect His greatness.
Application:
Before you begin each day, pause and pray:
“Lord Jesus Christ, whatever happens today, may my life bring glory to Your name.”
That simple prayer can change your perspective.
2. Submit to His Plan Instead of Dembracing Your Own
Submission is not a popular word today. Many people want complete control over their lives. Yet true peace comes when we surrender our plans to the Lord Jesus Christ.
Imagine a child trying to assemble a complex puzzle without looking at the picture on the box. The child becomes frustrated because the pieces seem random.
Then a parent comes along, sees the completed picture, and gently guides the child.
Life often feels that way.
We see only one piece.
The Lord Jesus Christ sees the finished masterpiece.
Therefore, surrender is not giving up. Instead, surrender is trusting the One who already knows the ending.
Sometimes His answer is “yes.”
Sometimes His answer is “wait.”
Sometimes His answer is “I have something better.”
Because He sees eternity, His timing is always perfect.
3. Trust His Process Even When You Don’t Understand It
One of the greatest tests of faith in Jesus Christ is trusting Him when nothing seems to make sense.
Joseph probably did not understand why he was sold into slavery.
David probably questioned why he spent years hiding in caves.
The Apostle Paul certainly faced hardships that seemed unfair.
Yet every trial became preparation.
The Lord Jesus Christ was building something greater than they could see.
Likewise, your present struggle may be preparing you for your future ministry.
Perhaps your pain will become someone else’s encouragement.
Perhaps your testimony will rescue another believer who feels hopeless.
Never underestimate what the Lord Jesus Christ can do through a surrendered life.
4. Remember That Willingness Matters More Than Perfection
Many believers wait until they feel “ready.”
“I’ll serve when I know more.”
“I’ll witness when I’m confident.”
“I’ll obey after I overcome all my weaknesses.”
However, the Lord Jesus Christ has always used imperfect people.
Moses struggled with fear.
Gideon doubted.
Peter failed.
Thomas questioned.
Yet each one became a powerful instrument because they were willing to obey.
The Lord Jesus Christ is not looking for flawless people.
He is looking for faithful people.
If you offer Him your willing heart, He can accomplish more than you could ever accomplish through your own strength.
Don’t Let Fear Shrink Your Prayers
Fear is one of the greatest enemies of spiritual growth.
Fear whispers:
“Don’t expect too much.”
“Don’t pray too boldly.”
“Don’t step out in faith.”
Yet Scripture repeatedly tells us not to fear.
Fear focuses on obstacles.
Faith focuses on the Lord Jesus Christ.
Imagine Peter stepping out of the boat.
As long as he looked toward the Lord Jesus Christ, he walked on the water.
When he focused on the storm, he began to sink.
How often do we do the same?
Our circumstances become bigger than our Savior.
Instead, we must keep our eyes fixed on the Lord Jesus Christ.
Your Greatest Blessing May Not Be What You Expect
Many people define blessing as money, success, or comfort.
However, the greatest blessings often cannot be measured with earthly standards.
Consider these priceless gifts:
- Peace during difficult times.
- Joy that survives hardship.
- Wisdom when life becomes confusing.
- Courage to obey.
- A deeper relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
- A transformed heart.
- Spiritual maturity.
- Eternal hope.
These blessings produce lasting fruit.
Eventually, they prepare us for every other assignment the Lord Jesus Christ has planned.
Living Beyond Your Imagination
Suppose someone had told the Apostle Paul that his prison letters would encourage believers nearly two thousand years later.
He probably would have found that impossible to imagine.
Yet the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished exactly that.
Likewise, your acts of obedience today may influence people you will never meet.
One conversation.
One prayer.
One Bible study.
One act of kindness.
One faithful decision.
The Lord Jesus Christ can multiply small acts of obedience into eternal results.
That is the beauty of Ephesians 3:20 (KJV).
He specializes in doing more.
A Personal Challenge
Pause for a moment.
Ask yourself these questions honestly.
- Have I stopped dreaming because of disappointment?
- Have I been praying safe prayers instead of faith-filled prayers?
- Am I trusting my own ability more than the power of the Lord Jesus Christ?
- Is fear limiting what I believe He can do?
- Am I willing to surrender completely to His plan?
If any answer makes you uncomfortable, don’t lose heart.
Today can become your new beginning.
The Lord Jesus Christ is still writing your story.
Your greatest chapter may still be ahead.
A Story That Illustrates “Immeasurably More”
An elderly woman faithfully taught a small Sunday school class for decades.
She often wondered whether her efforts mattered because only a handful of children attended each week.
Years later, one of those children became a missionary.
Another became a pastor.
Another translated Christian literature into several languages.
Still another faithfully discipled hundreds of new believers.
She never lived to see the full impact of her quiet obedience.
Nevertheless, the Lord Jesus Christ did.
She simply planted seeds.
He produced a harvest beyond anything she could have imagined.
The same can happen through your faithful obedience.
Never underestimate what the Lord Jesus Christ can accomplish through one surrendered life.
