The Lord Jesus Will Carry You

Have you ever felt exhausted by the weight of life? Perhaps you have carried financial pressure, family concerns, disappointment, fear, or uncertainty for so long that you wonder how much more you can take.

Isaiah 46 gives us a powerful reminder: we do not have to carry everything by ourselves. The Lord Jesus is able to carry us.

In this chapter, Isaiah contrasts powerless idols with the One who has the power to save, sustain, and deliver His people. The message is simple but powerful: what we trust will determine whether we carry the burden or allow the Lord Jesus to carry us.

Idols Cannot Carry Us

Isaiah begins by describing Bel and Nebo, false idols that people had worshiped. These idols were placed on animals and transported from one place to another. However, instead of carrying their worshipers, the idols themselves had to be carried.

That picture is important.

Something that people believed would protect them actually became a burden. The animals became tired because they were carrying the weight of these useless objects.

Today, we may not bow before physical idols, but we can still place our trust in things that cannot save us. Money, possessions, careers, popularity, relationships, political power, and human wisdom can all become substitutes for trusting the Lord Jesus.

Eventually, however, these things disappoint us.

Therefore, we must ask ourselves: What am I depending on to carry me through life?

The Lord Jesus Has Carried Us From the Beginning

Isaiah then gives us one of the most comforting promises in this chapter.

The Lord says:

“Hearken unto me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, which are borne by me from the belly, which are carried from the womb:” — Isaiah 46:3 KJV

Then He continues:

“And even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you…” — Isaiah 46:4 KJV

What a beautiful picture of divine care!

The Lord Jesus reminds His people that He has been carrying them from the beginning. He did not merely help them occasionally. He sustained them throughout their lives.

Likewise, the Lord Jesus has been faithful through every season of our lives.

He was there when we celebrated victories. He was there when we experienced losses. He was there when we understood what was happening. He was also there when we had no idea what to do next.

Therefore, when life becomes difficult, remember this truth: the Lord Jesus has not abandoned you.

Stop Carrying What You Were Never Meant to Carry

Sometimes we become exhausted because we try to control everything.

We carry yesterday’s mistakes. We carry tomorrow’s fears. We carry other people’s opinions. We carry problems that we cannot solve.

However, the Lord Jesus invites us to trust Him.

That does not mean we stop working, planning, or taking responsibility. Instead, it means we recognize our limitations and place our confidence in the One who is greater than our circumstances.

For example, imagine someone facing a serious financial challenge. They may spend every night worrying about how everything will work out. Yet worrying does not create a solution.

Prayer, wise decisions, hard work, and trust can move that person forward.

Therefore, instead of saying, “I have to figure everything out,” we can say, “Lord Jesus, I will do what You have given me to do, and I will trust You with what I cannot control.”

Remember Who the Lord Jesus Is

Isaiah asks an important question:

“To whom will ye liken me, and make me equal, and compare me, that we may be like?” — Isaiah 46:5 KJV

The answer is clear. Nothing compares with the Lord Jesus.

People can create impressive things. They can accumulate wealth, build businesses, develop technology, and gain influence. Yet none of these things can replace the Lord Jesus.

Human achievements have limits.

The Lord Jesus does not.

He knows the beginning and the end. He understands what we cannot understand. He sees what we cannot see.

Isaiah declares:

“Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done…” — Isaiah 46:10 KJV

Therefore, we can trust Him even when we cannot see the outcome.

The Lord Jesus Keeps His Promises

One of the strongest messages in Isaiah 46 is that the Lord Jesus does what He says.

The chapter declares:

“My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure.” — Isaiah 46:10 KJV

People may make promises and fail to keep them. Circumstances may change. Plans may fall apart.

But the Lord Jesus remains faithful.

That means your present situation does not have to determine your future.

You may be facing a difficult season today, but that does not mean your story is finished. The Lord Jesus can make a way where you cannot see one.

Bring Your Heart Back to Him

Isaiah calls the people to remember.

“Remember this, and shew yourselves men: bring it again to mind, O ye transgressors.” — Isaiah 46:8 KJV

Sometimes our greatest problem is not that we have forgotten what the Lord Jesus has done. It is that we have allowed our current circumstances to make us forget.

Remember the prayers He answered.

Remember the doors He opened.

Remember the times He protected you.

Remember the strength He gave you when you thought you could not continue.

Then let those memories strengthen your faith today.

Salvation Is Near

Isaiah closes with a powerful promise:

“I bring near my righteousness; it shall not be far off, and my salvation shall not tarry…” — Isaiah 46:13 KJV

The Lord Jesus is not distant from those who seek Him.

Therefore, do not allow fear to convince you that you are alone. Do not allow disappointment to make you abandon your faith. Do not allow the weight of today’s problems to make you forget the One who has carried you through every previous season.

Instead, turn your heart toward the Lord Jesus.

Trust Him.

Follow Him.

Obey His Word.

And continue moving forward in faith.

Let the Lord Jesus Carry You

Isaiah 46 gives us a choice.

We can spend our lives carrying burdens that eventually wear us down, or we can trust the Lord Jesus, who is able to carry us.

So, what burden are you carrying today?

Give it to the Lord Jesus.

You may not know what tomorrow will bring. However, you can know who holds tomorrow.

The Lord Jesus carried you yesterday. He is carrying you today. And He will remain faithful tomorrow.

Therefore, keep trusting Him. Keep praying. Keep believing. Keep walking forward.

You are not carrying this journey alone.
