I Choose Joy in the Lord Jesus
Life constantly offers reasons to worry, compare, and complain. Yet the Apostle Paul begins Philippians 3 with a different command. He says, “Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord.” That command is just as important today as it was then.
Today, I choose to rejoice in the Lord Jesus. I refuse to let my circumstances steal my joy. Instead, I will remember that true joy comes from my relationship with Him, not from my success, possessions, or popularity.
Moreover, I understand that repeating these truths strengthens my faith. Just as Paul reminded believers again and again, I need regular reminders to stay focused on the Lord Jesus.
I Will Not Trust in My Own Achievements
The world tells me to build my identity around education, career, reputation, money, or accomplishments. However, Paul listed an impressive résumé only to show that none of it could save him.
Likewise, I choose not to place my confidence in my own achievements. My education cannot save me. My good deeds cannot forgive my sins. My reputation cannot earn eternal life.
Instead, I place my complete confidence in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Every day I will remind myself:
- I will trust the Lord Jesus more than my abilities.
- I will seek His approval above human praise.
- I will remember that salvation comes through faith in Him.
That decision frees me from constantly trying to prove my worth.
I Count Everything Else as Loss
Paul made a bold statement. Everything he once considered valuable became worthless compared to knowing Christ.
That challenges me personally.
Therefore, I ask myself:
What am I holding onto that keeps me from fully following the Lord Jesus?
It may be pride.
It may be unforgiveness.
It may be comfort.
It may even be success.
Today I choose to surrender everything that competes for first place in my heart. Nothing compares with knowing the Lord Jesus.
When I place Him first, everything else finds its proper place.
I Desire to Know the Lord Jesus More Every Day
Knowing about Jesus is different from truly knowing Him.
Therefore, I make these personal commitments:
- I will spend time reading His Word every day.
- I will pray consistently.
- I will obey His commands.
- I will seek His guidance before making important decisions.
- I will depend on His strength instead of my own.
Furthermore, I want to experience the power of His resurrection in my daily life. I also understand that following Him includes difficult seasons. Even suffering can shape me into His image.
As I continue walking with Him, my faith grows stronger.
I Refuse to Live in My Past
One of Paul’s greatest lessons appears in Philippians 3:13.
He said he forgot what was behind and reached toward what lay ahead.
That is my decision as well.
I refuse to let past failures define me.
I refuse to let past victories make me complacent.
I refuse to let regret steal today’s opportunities.
Instead, I will learn from yesterday while living faithfully today.
Every morning becomes another opportunity to move closer to the Lord Jesus.
I Will Keep Pressing Toward the Prize
The Christian life is not a sprint.
It is a lifelong journey.
Some days will be easy.
Other days will be difficult.
Even so, I will keep moving forward.
When I become discouraged, I will remember why I started.
When I stumble, I will get back up.
When I grow tired, I will depend upon the strength of the Lord Jesus.
My goal is not temporary success.
My goal is the heavenly prize.
That prize is eternal life with the Lord Jesus Christ.
I Will Follow Faithful Examples
Paul encouraged believers to imitate those who faithfully followed Christ.
Likewise, I choose to surround myself with people who strengthen my faith.
I will learn from mature believers.
I will encourage younger believers.
I will become the kind of example that points others to the Lord Jesus.
At the same time, I will avoid voices that pull me away from biblical truth.
Every influence shapes my future.
Therefore, I choose wisely.
I Will Live with Heaven in View
Paul reminds believers that our true citizenship is in Heaven.
That changes everything.
Therefore:
I will invest more in eternity than temporary pleasures.
I will treasure spiritual riches above earthly wealth.
I will remember that one day the Lord Jesus Christ will return.
He will transform my mortal body into one like His glorious body.
Because of that promise, I have hope even during life’s greatest struggles.
Every sacrifice becomes worthwhile because Heaven is my true home.
My Personal Commitment Today
Today I make these commitments before the Lord Jesus:
- I will rejoice in the Lord every day.
- I will place no confidence in my own achievements.
- I will value knowing Christ above everything else.
- I will pursue a deeper relationship with Him daily.
- I will leave my past behind.
- I will keep pressing toward Heaven.
- I will follow faithful believers.
- I will live every day expecting the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
My greatest desire is not merely to know about Him.
My greatest desire is to truly know Him.
That journey begins today and continues until I stand in His glorious presence.
