The Gift of Salvation: Freely Given, Freely Received
In a world where giving is often expected or even required, it is important to understand the difference between obligation and true generosity. Those who are forced to give are not offering gifts, they are paying a form of tax. A true gift must be freely given and freely received. In the same way, salvation through the Lord Jesus is not something earned or imposed; it is the precious gift of eternal life, offered to all who believe and obey His gospel.
Salvation Is Not Earned, It Is a Gift
Salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ is the greatest gift ever offered. It cannot be bought, negotiated, or forced. Instead, it is extended in love to those who are willing to receive it through faith and obedience. This gift was first proclaimed by the apostles at Jerusalem, as recorded in the Book of Acts, chapter 2. There, the foundation of the gospel message was clearly established.
From the very beginning, the message was simple yet powerful: believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, repent, and receive the remission of sins. This was not a man-made doctrine but a divine plan revealed and confirmed through the apostles. It remains unchanged and stands as the only true path to eternal life.
The Blessed Hope We Hold
Those who have received this message do not live without purpose or direction. Instead, they live with a joyful expectation—the blessed hope of eternal life. This hope is not uncertain or wishful thinking; it is a confident assurance rooted in the promises of the Lord Jesus.
As believers, we eagerly look forward to His return. He is our great Savior, the One who gave His life to redeem us from all iniquity. Through His sacrifice, we are not only forgiven but also purified. We are called to be a people set apart, passionate about doing good works and living in righteousness.
This hope transforms how we live each day. It encourages us to remain faithful, steadfast, and committed, knowing that our redemption draws near.
A Foundation That Cannot Be Changed
We are not attempting to persuade the Lord Jesus that this is the only way of salvation. That has already been established. The foundation of the gospel was laid by those He appointed, and it is binding both in heaven and on earth.
There is no alternative path, no substitute truth, and no other foundation that can stand. The Scriptures make it clear that salvation comes through the Lord Jesus Christ alone. His death, burial, and resurrection are the cornerstone of our faith.
This truth has been settled, sealed, and confirmed. It is not open for revision or reinterpretation. Therefore, our mission is not to change the message but to faithfully proclaim it.
The Call to Believe and Obey
The gospel declares that the Lord Jesus Christ died and rose again. It also proclaims that repentance and the remission of sins should be preached in His name, beginning at Jerusalem and reaching to the ends of the earth.
This message calls for a response. It is not enough to hear it; we must act on it. Belief must be accompanied by obedience. When we respond in faith, we step into the promise of eternal life. When we reject it, we risk missing the glory that has been prepared for us.
The choice is clear and deeply personal. Obedience leads to life, joy, and everlasting hope. Disobedience leads to loss and separation.
Living with Purpose and Urgency
Understanding the truth of the gospel should move us to action. We are called to share this message with others, not out of obligation, but out of love and urgency. The world needs to know that there is a sure foundation and a certain hope.
Each day is an opportunity to live in alignment with the will of the Lord Jesus and to reflect His light to those around us. As we do, we become living testimonies of His grace and truth.
