Remembered by the Lord Jesus Christ: Your Faithfulness Is Never Forgotten
Sometimes, the people you help will forget you. The sacrifices you make may go unnoticed. You may serve faithfully, give generously, encourage others, and stand beside people during their hardest moments, only to receive silence in return. But does that mean your good deeds do not matter?
Absolutely not!
As a Christian writer and the creator of PossibilityPlus Living, I want to encourage you with a powerful biblical truth: your faithfulness matters, even when nobody applauds you. Hebrews 6:10 reminds us that the Lord Jesus Christ sees the love we show through our service to others. Today, we will explore how to overcome the pain of being overlooked, remain faithful when appreciation never comes, and find peace in knowing that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
So, if you have ever felt forgotten, unappreciated, or discouraged while doing what is right, this message is for you. Remember, people may forget your good deeds, but the Lord Jesus Christ never overlooks your faithful service.
1. When Nobody Notices Your Good Deeds
Have you ever done something kind for someone and received no acknowledgment? Perhaps you gave your time, offered financial help, prayed for a struggling friend, or volunteered when nobody else was willing to serve.
You expected nothing in return, yet a simple thank-you would have meant a great deal.
Instead, the person moved on as if nothing had happened. Worse still, someone else received the praise for work you quietly completed.
Consequently, you may have started asking yourself, “Does anybody care? Does my service make a difference? Should I keep doing good when nobody appreciates it?”
These questions are understandable. After all, we are human, and encouragement can strengthen our hearts.
However, the absence of human appreciation does not mean the absence of divine notice. The Lord Jesus Christ knows what you do in love, even when nobody else sees it.

At first, she feels disappointed. Nevertheless, she remembers why she started serving in the first place. She wanted to show Christ’s love to people who needed help.
Therefore, she chooses to continue serving, not because she expects applause, but because she wants her actions to reflect the character of the Lord Jesus Christ.
The lesson is simple: do not measure the value of your good deeds by the amount of recognition you receive. Instead, measure your faithfulness by the love, obedience, and sincerity behind your actions.
And when recognition never comes, remember that your service still has value.
2. What Hebrews 6:10 Teaches Us About Being Remembered
The foundation of this message is Hebrews 6:10. The verse offers comfort to believers who faithfully serve others, especially when their work seems unnoticed.
The King James Version reads:
“For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.” — Hebrews 6:10, KJV
Although the verse uses the word “God,” the quotation above preserves the exact wording of Scripture. Its message reminds us of the faithfulness and justice of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Notice three important truths in this verse.
First, the Lord sees your work
Your service may happen behind closed doors. You may pray for someone without telling anyone. You may help a struggling family without sharing their story. You may give your time to a ministry without receiving public recognition.
Nevertheless, the Lord Jesus Christ sees your sincere acts of service.
Matthew 6:3–4 teaches believers not to perform charitable acts simply to receive attention. It also teaches that the Father sees what is done in secret.
Therefore, you do not need an audience to make your service meaningful. What matters is that you serve with a sincere heart.
Second, love gives your service meaning
Hebrews 6:10 describes service as a “labour of love.” In other words, Christian service should flow from genuine love rather than a desire for praise.
For example, visiting a lonely neighbor, helping an elderly person, encouraging a discouraged believer, or caring for someone in need can all express Christian love.
These actions may seem small. Yet they can make a lasting difference in another person’s life.
Consequently, never assume that an ordinary act of kindness has no value. Sometimes, the smallest gesture provides the greatest encouragement.
Third, faithfulness matters over time
Notice that Hebrews 6:10 speaks of believers who have ministered to others and continue to minister.
This reminds us that Christian faithfulness is not merely about one generous act. It is also about continuing to do what is right.
Of course, you may need rest. You may need to establish healthy boundaries. You may need to ask others to share the responsibility.
Still, when the Lord Jesus Christ gives you an opportunity to serve, do not allow disappointment over missing recognition to destroy your desire to do good.
Keep your heart faithful, your motives sincere, and your eyes on the Lord Jesus Christ.

3. The Pain of Being Overlooked Is Real
Sometimes, Christians feel guilty for admitting that they want appreciation. They believe that because they serve the Lord, they should never feel hurt when others overlook them.
However, experiencing disappointment does not automatically mean that your motives are wrong.
We all need encouragement from time to time. A sincere thank-you can lift our spirits, while constant criticism or disregard can leave us discouraged.
The important question is not whether you ever feel disappointed. The important question is what you allow that disappointment to do to your heart.
For example, imagine that you have spent years helping a community organization. You have given your time, attended meetings, solved problems, and supported people during difficult seasons.
Then, when the organization celebrates its achievements, nobody acknowledges your contribution.
You may feel invisible. You may even wonder whether your efforts were wasted.
Nevertheless, do not let that experience turn your heart bitter. Instead, take your disappointment to the Lord Jesus Christ in prayer. Be honest about your feelings, ask for wisdom, and decide how you can continue serving in a healthy way.
Remember, you can forgive people without pretending their actions did not hurt. You can also step back from an unhealthy situation without abandoning your Christian values.
Being faithful does not mean allowing others to mistreat you. It means choosing what is right while trusting the Lord Jesus Christ to guide your steps.
4. Stop Looking for Human Applause as Your Only Reward
One of the greatest dangers of serving others is becoming dependent on their approval.
At first, you may volunteer because you genuinely want to help. However, after repeated disappointment, you may begin to expect praise, recognition, or special treatment.
When those things do not happen, your willingness to serve may weaken.
This is why it is important to examine your motives regularly.
Ask yourself:
-
Would I still do this good deed if nobody knew about it?
-
Am I serving because I love the Lord Jesus Christ and care about people?
-
Have I allowed someone else’s lack of appreciation to steal my peace?
-
Do I need to communicate my needs or establish healthier boundaries?
These questions are not meant to condemn you. Instead, they can help you recognize when disappointment is beginning to influence your heart.
Colossians 3:23–24 encourages believers to work heartily, as unto the Lord rather than merely unto people. The passage directs our attention away from human approval and toward faithful service.
Therefore, when you feel overlooked, remember whom you ultimately serve.
You do not have to make every person recognize your contribution. You do not have to argue for every compliment. Nor do you have to announce every sacrifice.
Instead, serve with integrity, accept appropriate encouragement with gratitude, and trust the Lord Jesus Christ to direct your path.

5. The Lord Jesus Christ Knows What Others Cannot See
People usually see only a small part of your life.
They may see you smiling at church, but they do not know how much you prayed before arriving. They may see you helping someone, but they do not know what you sacrificed to make it possible.
Likewise, they may see the finished result without understanding the hours of effort behind it.
However, the Lord Jesus Christ knows the whole story.
He knows when you gave despite having little. He knows when you encouraged someone while carrying your own burdens. He knows when you chose forgiveness instead of revenge and when you continued doing what was right despite criticism.
This does not mean that every good deed guarantees a specific earthly reward. Scripture does not promise that every faithful believer will receive wealth, popularity, or public honor.
Rather, the Bible calls us to trust the righteous judgment of the Lord Jesus Christ and remain faithful to His Word.
Second Corinthians 5:10 teaches that we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ. This reminds us that our lives and actions matter beyond the opinions of other people.
Consequently, do not allow the world’s failure to recognize your contribution to determine your worth.
Your value does not depend on how many people praise you. Your faithfulness is not erased by someone else’s forgetfulness. And your service does not become meaningless simply because nobody applauds.
The Lord Jesus Christ sees beyond appearances, and He knows the truth about your heart.
6. How to Keep Doing Good When You Feel Forgotten
Understanding the promise of Hebrews 6:10 is important. However, you also need practical ways to apply that promise when disappointment returns.
Here are five steps you can take.
Step 1: Remember why you started
First, return to your original purpose.
If you began serving because you wanted to show the love of the Lord Jesus Christ, remind yourself of that commitment.
Recognition may encourage you, but it should not become the foundation of your obedience.
Whenever disappointment rises, pray and ask the Lord Jesus Christ to renew your purpose.
Step 2: Celebrate the difference your kindness makes
Next, remember the people who have benefited from your service.
Perhaps someone felt less lonely because you visited. Perhaps a struggling parent received needed assistance. Perhaps a discouraged person found courage because you listened.
You may never know the full impact of your actions. Nevertheless, a sincere act of kindness can encourage someone to keep going.
Therefore, do not dismiss the good that has already been accomplished.
Step 3: Continue doing good without neglecting yourself
Galatians 6:9 says:
“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” — Galatians 6:9, KJV
This verse encourages perseverance. It does not require you to work without rest or carry every responsibility alone.
Sometimes, the wisest thing you can do is rest, seek help, or share the work with others.
For instance, if you are the only person organizing a ministry event, ask others to participate. If your responsibilities are overwhelming, speak honestly with your leaders.
In this way, you can protect your well-being while remaining committed to doing good.
Step 4: Pray instead of allowing bitterness to grow
When people disappoint you, bring your feelings to the Lord Jesus Christ.
Tell Him what happened. Ask Him to help you forgive, gain wisdom, and respond with grace.
You do not have to deny your pain to demonstrate faith. Instead, allow prayer and Scripture to guide how you respond.
Remember, bitterness can cause yesterday’s disappointment to influence tomorrow’s decisions. Therefore, deal with hurt before it begins to control your heart.
Step 5: Trust the Lord Jesus Christ with the outcome
Finally, accept that you cannot control how other people respond.
Some will appreciate you. Others may misunderstand you. Some may even take your kindness for granted.
Nevertheless, you can choose to act with honesty, compassion, and integrity.
Continue doing what is right, correct your course when necessary, and leave the outcome in the hands of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Your responsibility is to remain faithful. You cannot force people to appreciate you, but you can choose not to let their response define your obedience.

7. Remembered by the Lord: Your Labor Is Not in Vain
At times, you may wonder whether your efforts have accomplished anything meaningful. You may look at the years you have spent helping others and feel that you have very little to show for them.
However, Scripture offers another perspective.
First Corinthians 15:58 encourages believers to remain steadfast, unmovable, and always abounding in the work of the Lord. It concludes by assuring them that their labor is not in vain in the Lord.
What an encouraging promise!
Your work may not produce immediate results. The person you encourage today may need time to grow. The child you teach may not understand your lessons until years later. The kindness you show may influence someone in ways you never discover.
Nevertheless, you should not assume that nothing good has happened simply because you cannot see the results.
Think about a farmer who plants seeds. After planting, he does not dig them up every morning to check whether they have grown. Instead, he prepares the soil, provides what the plants need, and allows time for growth.
Likewise, you must learn to do good without demanding immediate evidence of success.
Continue to pray. Continue to encourage others. Continue to share the truth of the Scriptures. Continue to show compassion.
At the same time, remain willing to learn, accept correction, and change your approach when necessary.
The goal is not to keep repeating ineffective actions simply because you have always done them. Rather, the goal is to remain faithful to the Lord Jesus Christ while allowing Him to guide your efforts.
Therefore, when you feel forgotten, remember that the absence of immediate results does not mean your labor is worthless.
8. What If People Never Recognize What You Have Done?
Here is a difficult but important question: What happens if the people you help never thank you?
What if they never acknowledge your sacrifices? What if they forget your name, overlook your contribution, or fail to understand how much you cared?
First, recognize that you cannot control another person’s memory or attitude.
Second, release the expectation that everyone must repay your kindness with appreciation.
Third, remember that Christian service is not a transaction. We should not help people merely because we expect them to owe us something afterward.
The Lord Jesus Christ taught His followers to love others and to give without making repayment the sole purpose of their generosity. Luke 6:35 encourages believers to do good and lend, hoping for nothing in return.
However, this does not mean you should ignore exploitation or remain in harmful situations. You can love people while setting boundaries. You can forgive while addressing wrongdoing. And you can serve faithfully without accepting every responsibility that others place upon you.
Ultimately, your peace grows when you stop trying to control how people remember you and focus instead on how faithfully you live before the Lord Jesus Christ.
People may forget what you did, but you do not have to forget why you did it.
9. A Prayer for Those Who Feel Forgotten
If you have been feeling overlooked, take a moment to pray.

Lord Jesus Christ,
Thank You for seeing me when others overlook me. You know the work I have done, the people I have helped, and the sacrifices I have made in love.
At times, I feel discouraged when my efforts go unnoticed. Sometimes, I wonder whether my service makes a difference. Yet Your Word reminds me to remain faithful and continue doing good.
Please help me guard my heart against bitterness, pride, and the need for human approval. Teach me to serve with a sincere heart and to love people without making recognition my reward.
Give me wisdom to know when to continue, when to rest, and when to establish healthy boundaries. Help me forgive those who have hurt me and respond with grace when others fail to appreciate my efforts.
Above all, remind me that my worth does not depend on applause. Strengthen my faith, renew my purpose, and help me walk in obedience to Your Word.
Thank You for Your faithfulness. Help me remain faithful to You, even when the road is difficult and the results are not immediately visible.
In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I pray.
Amen.

Conclusion: People May Forget, but Your Faithfulness Still Matters
Life will not always reward you with the appreciation you deserve. Some people will forget your kindness. Others may overlook your contribution. And sometimes, the very people you help will fail to recognize the sacrifices you made for them.
Nevertheless, do not allow their response to determine whether you continue doing what is right.
Hebrews 6:10 reminds us that faithful service and genuine love matter to the Lord. Galatians 6:9 encourages us not to grow weary in doing good. And 1 Corinthians 15:58 reminds us that our labor in the Lord is not in vain.
Therefore, keep loving. Keep serving. Keep praying. Keep helping those in need. And when you feel discouraged, return to the promises of Scripture.
Remember, too, that faithfulness does not mean chasing endless approval or exhausting yourself to please everyone. Serve wisely, rest when necessary, and allow the Lord Jesus Christ to guide your decisions.
You may never receive public recognition for some of the most meaningful things you do. Yet you can continue to live with a clear conscience, a loving heart, and a steadfast commitment to the truth.
People may forget your good deeds, but the Lord Jesus Christ sees your faithfulness. So do not give up simply because nobody applauds. Continue to do good, and let your life reflect His love.
