Have You Ever Wondered If the Pain Will Ever End?

Have you ever sat alone after receiving heartbreaking news? Perhaps you have lost someone you loved. Maybe you are fighting an illness. Perhaps you have been betrayed by someone you trusted. At times like these, it can feel as though the darkness will never lift.

Yet, there is one question that almost everyone asks sooner or later:

“If the Lord Jesus Christ loves us, why is there so much suffering?”

I have spent years studying the Scriptures and sharing biblical truth through PossibilityPlus Living. Again and again, I have discovered that the Bible never ignores suffering. Instead, it points us to a glorious promise that changes everything.

Today, we will discover why this world is broken, why suffering exists, and why the promises of comfort found in the Lord Jesus Christ give every believer lasting hope. By the end of this article, you will understand why Revelation 21:4 remains one of the greatest promises ever given.

We Live in a Broken World

First, we must understand something important.

The Lord Jesus Christ created the world perfectly. There was no death. There was no sickness. There was no violence. There was no sorrow.

However, humanity chose another path.

Instead of following the Lord Jesus Christ, mankind embraced sin. Consequently, the world became filled with pain, disease, hatred, injustice, and death.

Every newspaper tells the same story.

Wars continue.

Families fall apart.

Children suffer.

Natural disasters strike.

People experience loneliness despite being surrounded by others.

Therefore, when we look around, we should not expect a broken world to behave like heaven.

A Story Many Can Understand

Imagine buying a brand-new car.

It shines.

Everything works perfectly.

Then, someone ignores the traffic rules and crashes into it.

Suddenly, the damage is obvious.

The manufacturer did not design the vehicle to be broken. Instead, the accident caused the damage.

Likewise, the Lord Jesus Christ did not create humanity for suffering. Sin damaged creation. As a result, the world no longer reflects His perfect design.

Yet, thankfully, the story does not end there.

The Promise That Changes Everything

One of the most comforting passages in Scripture is found in Revelation.

Revelation 21:4 (KJV)

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”

This promise gives believers incredible hope.

Notice what happens.

The tears end.

Death ends.

Pain ends.

Grief ends.

Suffering ends.

Most importantly, the Lord Jesus Christ personally comforts His people forever.

Although the King James Version uses the word “God” in this verse, believers who understand the fullness of Scripture recognize that the Lord Jesus Christ is our Everlasting Father (Isaiah 9:6) and the One seated upon the throne in Revelation. Therefore, He is the One who fulfills this promise of everlasting comfort.

Evil Will Not Win

Many people think evil is winning.

Every day we hear about violence, corruption, and hatred.

Nevertheless, Revelation tells another story.

Evil has an expiration date.

Satan’s rebellion will end.

Death itself will be destroyed.

The Lord Jesus Christ will establish His everlasting Kingdom.

That truth changes how we face today’s hardships.

Instead of living in fear, we can live with confident hope.

Hope Changes the Way We Live

Hope is far more than wishful thinking.

Biblical hope is confident expectation.

Consider a woman battling cancer.

Her treatments are difficult.

She becomes tired.

Some days she cries.

Yet, she keeps fighting because she believes healing is possible.

Likewise, Christians endure life’s hardships because we know the Lord Jesus Christ has already secured our eternal future.

That promise produces endurance.

The Lord Jesus Christ Is Our Everlasting Comforter

Throughout Scripture, the Lord Jesus Christ comforts His people.

He comforted Martha after Lazarus died.

He comforted Jairus before raising his daughter.

He comforted His disciples before His crucifixion.

Today, He still comforts those who trust Him.

He may not always remove our problems immediately.

However, He never abandons us during them.

His peace often arrives before the solution does.

What Should You Do During Difficult Times?

Instead of allowing discouragement to control your life, take these simple steps.

1. Pray Honestly

Tell the Lord Jesus Christ exactly how you feel.

He already knows your heart.

2. Read His Promises

Spend time reading Revelation 21, Psalm 23, Isaiah 41, Romans 8, and John 14.

His promises strengthen weary hearts.

3. Remember Eternity

Today’s suffering is temporary.

Heaven is eternal.

That perspective changes everything.

4. Encourage Someone Else

Often, comforting another hurting person also strengthens your own faith.

My Favorite Promise

One day…

Hospitals will close forever.

Funeral homes will no longer be needed.

Cancer will disappear.

Depression will end.

Wars will cease.

Graves will never open again.

Why?

Because the Lord Jesus Christ will make all things new.

That is the greatest promise of comfort ever given.

Your Hope Is Not Based on Today’s Circumstances

Perhaps you are reading this while grieving.

Perhaps your marriage is struggling.

Perhaps you have lost your job.

Perhaps your prayers seem unanswered.

Do not judge the faithfulness of the Lord Jesus Christ by your current circumstances.

Instead, judge your circumstances by His eternal promises.

His Word has never failed.

His promises have never changed.

His love has never ended.

One day, every tear will be gone forever.

That day is coming.

Hold on.
