The Mission That Defines Us: Preaching the Gospel of the Lord Jesus

Our Divine Assignment

What is the mission that has been entrusted to us in this world? It is not complicated, but it is deeply significant. The Lord Jesus gave His disciples a clear and powerful command: go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. There are no exceptions, no exclusions; this message is for everyone.

This mission began in Jerusalem, where the foundation of the church was established under the leadership of the Apostle Peter, who was given the keys to open the way. From that moment forward, the responsibility was passed on to all who would believe. The gospel is not meant to be hidden; it is meant to be proclaimed boldly and faithfully to every person.

The Message We Carry

The gospel is the good news of the Lord Jesus Christ, Lord Jesus manifested in the flesh, who lived, died, and rose again. He did not remain in the grave but returned in the Spirit to dwell within those who believe.

Those who hear this message and accept it as truth are called to respond. That response includes repentance, acknowledging the Lord Jesus and turning away from sin. It also includes being baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, which signifies the washing away and removal of sins from one’s record.

This is not merely symbolic; it is an act of obedience and humility. Through it, believers align themselves with the truth of the gospel and the requirements of entering the kingdom.

Salvation and Warning

The promise is clear: those who believe and obey the gospel will be saved. However, there is also a sobering warning, those who do not believe will be condemned.

The Apostle Paul spoke of a future moment when the Lord Jesus will be revealed from heaven in flaming fire with His mighty angels. At that time, He will take vengeance on those who do not know Him and do not obey the gospel. These individuals will face everlasting punishment, separated from His glorious presence.

This is not a message meant to instill fear alone, but to awaken urgency. It reminds us why the mission matters. It calls us to act, to speak, and to share the truth while there is still time.

Rescued from the Second Death

As believers, we rejoice in the hope that we are saved from the second death, the lake of fire. This is the final judgment reserved for those who reject the truth.

What happens in that place is ultimately between them and the Lord Jesus. But our responsibility is clear: we are here to help others escape that fate. We do this by pointing them to the only refuge, the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Through repentance, baptism in His name, and receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit, individuals can find shelter, forgiveness, and new life.

Living the Gospel Daily

Our mission does not end with preaching; it continues in how we live. We are called to walk carefully, with awareness and intention. Our lives should reflect the love of the Lord Jesus through how we treat one another.

Love is not optional, it is evidence of transformation. As we demonstrate genuine care, compassion, and unity, we become living testimonies of the gospel’s power.

At the same time, we remain watchful, always looking for the return of the Lord Jesus. This expectation shapes our priorities and strengthens our commitment to the mission.

A Simple Yet Urgent Call

The message we carry is both simple and urgent. The Lord Jesus will return, and when He does, there will be a clear distinction between those who obeyed the gospel and those who did not.

This is not complicated theology, it is a straightforward call to action:

  • Believe the gospel
  • Repent of sin
  • Be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ
  • Receive the Holy Spirit
  • Live a life of love and obedience

These are not burdensome demands; they are the pathway to life.
