I Will Make the Lord Jesus My Refuge

Life can be unpredictable. One day everything seems fine, and the next day challenges appear without warning. Fear, uncertainty, sickness, financial pressure, and family struggles can all shake my confidence. However, Psalm 91 reminds me that I do not have to face life’s battles alone.

Therefore, I choose to make the Lord Jesus my refuge and my fortress. Instead of trusting only my own strength, I will place my confidence in Him. When problems arise, I will run to Him first in prayer rather than allowing fear to control my thoughts.

Moreover, Psalm 91 teaches me that safety is not found in wealth, power, or human ability. Instead, true security comes from staying close to the Lord Jesus Christ.

I Will Dwell in His Presence Daily

The opening verse declares:

“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”

As a result, I understand that this promise belongs to those who dwell in His presence. Therefore, I will spend time with the Lord Jesus daily through prayer, Bible reading, worship, and obedience.

For example, just as a child feels secure near a loving father, I find peace when I stay close to the Lord Jesus. The closer I remain to Him, the stronger my faith becomes.

Furthermore, I realize that occasional visits to His presence are not enough. Instead, I will make fellowship with Him a daily habit.

I Will Choose Faith Over Fear

Fear is one of the enemy’s favorite weapons. It whispers that things will never improve. It tells me that I am alone and vulnerable.

However, Psalm 91 gives a different message.

Therefore, I will not be afraid of the terror by night or the troubles that come during the day. Instead, I will remember that the Lord Jesus is watching over me.

When bad news arrives, I will pray before I panic.

When uncertainty appears, I will trust before I worry.

When challenges come, I will believe before I complain.

Consequently, my faith will grow stronger as I learn to depend on Him.

I Will Trust His Protection

Psalm 91 contains powerful promises of protection. While this does not mean I will never face difficulties, it does mean that the Lord Jesus will be with me through every trial.

For instance, many believers have experienced His protection during sickness, accidents, financial hardship, and personal crises. Their stories remind me that His faithfulness remains constant.

Therefore, I will trust His protection even when I cannot see what He is doing behind the scenes.

Additionally, I will remember that His protection includes spiritual protection. He guards my heart, mind, and soul against the attacks of the enemy.

I Will Call Upon Him in Every Situation

Toward the end of Psalm 91, the Lord promises:

“He shall call upon me, and I will answer him.”

Because of this promise, I will not wait until disaster strikes before I pray. Instead, I will build a lifestyle of communication with the Lord Jesus.

When I am joyful, I will thank Him.

When I am discouraged, I will seek Him.

When I need wisdom, I will ask Him.

When I face impossible situations, I will trust Him.

As a result, prayer will become my first response rather than my last resort.

I Will Live With Confidence and Hope

Finally, Psalm 91 reminds me that my future is secure in the Lord Jesus Christ. The world may change, but His promises remain the same.

Therefore, I choose to live with confidence rather than anxiety.

I choose faith rather than fear.

I choose prayer rather than panic.

I choose trust rather than doubt.

Most importantly, I choose to follow the Lord Jesus every day of my life.

Because when I dwell in His presence, trust His promises, and walk in obedience, I discover the peace and protection that Psalm 91 so beautifully describes.

Personal Commitment Prayer

Lord Jesus, today I commit myself to dwelling in Your presence. I will trust You when I am afraid. I will call upon You in every situation. I will make You my refuge, my fortress, and my hope. Help me walk by faith and not by fear. Strengthen me to trust Your promises and follow You faithfully every day. Amen.
